Not So Effortless

Jeans? Mih Jeans, Winners (here) Tee? Old Navy (here) Purse? Thrifted Shoes? Jeffrey Campbell
Sunglasses? c/o Smartbuy Glasses (yes, I wear them all the time, here) Pics? Julie

This is me trying to be 'effortlessly chic'. I had to talk myself into sticking with a plain tee and not piling on 4 necklaces.
I blame Pinterest. For everything really... But specifically for the cool photographs of cool girls in cool jeans and cool plain tees looking so freaking cool. And that's cool, I guess...
Don't get me wrong, I love a soft white tee and these jeans (which I admittedly got for a lot cheaper than I can find online...) make me feel like I got my life and muffin top in control but as it turns out, I'm not an understated kinda girl.
There's a reason I have so much success in the thrift store and in the sale section and it's because I am attracted to the weird stuff that most people pass over. I like things a little crazy and a pinch over the top. So effortlessly chic I will never be, but effortfully chic? I got that.

I also just called myself chic. Humility. It's happening right here...

every time i put a necklace on, i feel like I need to pile 4 more on top because of you. but then i feel like you cant even see my miniature self under 7lbs of metal. So i take it all off and put on earrings. That story sounded better in my head...

ANYWAY... I like this look on you! maybe just add a beaded bolero on top for that touch of CRAZY (said with wide eyes).

Side note - I have some MIH jeans too! I had to google it because the name was familiar but i wasnt sure, but i have that little embroidered bird. Anyhoo mine are stretchy skinnies in a similar wash. I LOVE them. I havent washed them in (ever) and i bought them at a store on sale 200 down to 100. i dont even usually spend 100$ on jeans... but i thought Id invest. (cuz i was desperately in need of a 15th pair of jeans?) anyhoo the store even custom hemmed them for me! Wait so yeah, i havent washed them and they still dont look like i shit my pants or that my butt deflated. They are getting pretty dirty tho... but they still fit well! Ok all that to say that i really like that brand. they make GOOD jeans.

You pulled off the effortless look to perfection! The red lips were the perfect finishing touch. Lol Pinterest is to blame for so many things!

hahahhahaha well you look fabulous in a plain white tee, aviators and a pair of flared jeans, this is the kind of shit I live in (I too like having my muffin top under control)

Personally I think you pull off effortlessly chic very well here! But I hear you because it happens to me too. "Oh, all I need to do is wear jeans and a tee and I can look like this?" Seven hours of jeans and tees and several tears later and I still look awkward. LOL That's what I love about the thrift store too girl. You look great and ALWAYS do--sequins or tees. Have a great weekend!

Effortfully...that takes effort just to read/say! :o)

You saved the outfit from being plain by your little pile of pretty on your arm.

This look is fabulous, but I know what you mean! I love things that are interesting, and all those "effortlessly chic" girls on Pinterest just tend to blend together for me.

Also, I tried your advice from year three (was it year three?) of your blog review and decided that I am no longer going to smile, only smirk in my pictures. MUCH better pictures. Wtf?

There's something to be said about the simplicity of a plain white tee and a pair of good fitting jeans. I say, if simple is what you want to wear, rock it!

I do love jeans and a plain white tee - but that said, like you I do gravitate to more unique things! Love this look and how you wrote about it too - it made me laugh so much.

I just don't seem to really suit jeans and a tee - I'm still trying though! You've got the effortless chic down to a tee!

You look fantastic!! But that's nothing new. I love seeing you in something different, I love the idea of minimal chic but can never seem to master it. I always feel like I need more. More is more!

Those shoes are all the things. I love them. They look like Candies from the '70s. I want some. I have many feelings about those shoes.

4th picture = awesome...really you should be in movies. But Hi, I've been reading your blog for longer than you would probably want to know and I admire everything about you. you are an inspiration. Sometimes I see really over the top stuff in thrift store and think "yen would rock this" not to sound creepy but you are bff in my mind.
