Toned Down

I didn't think I would have time to post today. It is my homeslice Kendi's birthday today and in honour of that day, I was planning on a getting a huge piece tattooed on my back. A Yendi tattoo... on one shoulder there would be Kendi and on the other shoulder myself and across the middle the North American continent. It would be tattooed in such a way that when I put on eyeliner with my right hand, Kendi would wave to me and when I reach for Dunkaroos with my left hand, I would wave back. It would have been awesome but Matt said that maybe it was a little much, so I just emailed her instead. The good news is that I have time to outfit post...

Jacket? Old Navy
Cargo Pants? Joe Fresh
Turtleneck? Joe Fresh
Sequin bolero? Betsey Johnson, UO
Boots? ?, Winners
Purse? Thrifted

I'm not sure I like the fact that I look like an explosion of off-white... my hair, my turtleneck, my jacket, my pants and my purse... I appreciate the texture and tone play in the monochromatic look but on the other hand, I feel the jacket is a little rosy beside the cargoes. I wore this to the vet and I am sure he was torn too... Him and the staff probably spent all weekend debating what colour my jacket is exactly... ecru? taupe? oatmeal?

Please never listen to Matt. It's possible that that is the best idea I've ever heard.

I love that Yendi tattoo idea. Perhaps a sketch of it is in order?

I'm into it. I once wore an out of wack outfit to the vets office and he was the only person who commented on it that entire day. I'm telling you they're in tune to those kind of things. They probably talking about how you totally clashed with the cats.

Maybe you can just get a stick on for now. Or use a sharpie for the tat.

There focus was probably on the bag! How do you make the most mundane backgrounds just work so incredibly well for a post?! I'm jealous!

I'll bet the vet is still talking about it...the bag though. :)

The bolero is sweet.

My husband is a vet...before marrying me...he wouldn't have noticed. Now...I'm sure he would've appreciated the opportunity to have something to discuss with me...other than the not-so-fun stuff that goes on in the clinic. Unfortunately, where I live...we don't get many chances to see people as fashionable as you?! Stay beautiful!! =)

I love the color of that coat and the fact that it's a mysterious color that looks different under different lights!

Btw, love the tire backdrop for these pictures. So unique!

Hahaha. You said "homeslice."

Also anytime you're done with that bolero, I'd be happy to give it a home.

Dunkaroos! I used to eat all the frosting before I finished my cookies and then I didn't want the rest of the cookies. Miss those.

Love the jacket. It is tres chic ;)

You are hilarious - I wish you had gotten that huge tattoo so that you and Kendi could wave back and forth to each other :).

I love this look and the monochromatic tones! I think it goes beautifully together!

And I bet the vet was probably debating more about whether your purse was faux or real fur, rather than the oatmeal/ecru/taupe of the jacket - but I could be wrong!! :)

I love that it's all in shades of brown... it draws attention to the leather/sequin/fur texture extravaganza! Love it contrasted with the tire background too!

Clearly Matt has no artistic genius or he would recognize your tattoo idea for the brilliant idea that it is. I'm considering a similar one with Clare (of Between Laundry Days), but since we live in the same house, it seems a bit excessive. Maybe just a small tattoo on the wrist?

I think that your Off White Explosion (note to self: future band name) is pretty freaking fabulous. You look sort of classic American meets military meets vet-confounder. I heart it. And I mean, a bolero?! A sequined bolder?! Who cares what color it is?! It can't be beaten...by anything...ever.

PS: My word verification for this post is "cousenci." Didn't he run for governor somewhere? :)

You're funny. Also, that purse is bangin'. And the sequinage? It's stellar and so you. Love the effects on the photos, too..

Bwahahahah! The only thing about an awesome piece like that is that it would cost so much money that you wouldn't be able to buy amazing sequined boleros or fantastic thrifted purses.

I'm with Sarah: best. idea. ever.

Also, I see what you mean about the jacket colour being "rosy" - but I'm still buying the lot. It all comes together in a big bundle of lithe, style-y awesome.

Love the little jacket! So cute! I think this outfit looks great, sometimes a monochromatic look can be soothing after so much pattern and color!

I love the funnel neck cropped jacket of indeterminable color. And I like neutral looks. especially when they are full of so much shine, textures and fur!

I thought you should know that not only are we now bracelet sisters... we are also jacket buddies. It's like we were twins separated at birth and you inherited all the height and left me with short legs. thanks a lot!
I like this off-white ensemble. You forgot to mention that your skin is off white... ish.

BEST. TATTOO. EVER. I can't believe Matt talked you out of it. I bet Kendi's really disappointed.
