Never Too Much of a Good Thing

Two posts, one night... apparently it's possible.

Jacket? Vintage and thrifted
Jeans? Gap
Boots? Cole Haan, thrifted
Sweater? F21
Purse? ?, Filene's Basement
Beret? Calvn Klein, Winners

I had a crazy, busy week but I carefully scheduled in half an hour at Talize for myself. And Talize gifted me with a leopard swing coat hanging at the end of rack in plain view. I stuck it in the freezer for a few days (too scared to hand wash it, too cheap to dry clean it and a little afraid of moths because there were a few holes even though it's not wool), did a half ass fix it job and wore it out when I met up with my university friend, Linda, for shopping and drinks in downtown Toronto. I'll admit, sometimes I slack at altering my thrift finds but I rushed it this time purely out of my desire to show-off.

I planned to style it up in a bit of a classic Audrey Hepburn way. You know, start with some cropped black pants and then add my ballet flats and then bump up my hair and then tie a pretty scarf around my head and then paint on a cat eye and then stain my lips red and then... it rained. And so, I opted for some boots because cold, wet feet need too much wine to warm back up. I also threw on the beret because I like my hair volume to be artificial; a result of vicious back combing and hairspray and not natural; a side effect of a soft rainfall.

I don't even know where to begin with this outfit, so let's just take it from the top: your hat--hip in that "I don't even care and I certainly don't try" sort of way; your coat--would make a grocery sack look chic; your bag--convinced me at olive suede, but drove the point home with three rows of fringe; and those boots--Cut. It. Out.

I gotta say, whenever I go to meet you my bed turns into a pile of clothes. I Never know what to wear, and I don't want to look like I am trying to hard, but don't want to try too little. I'm sure the "nuet blank(ers)" noticed our style, what with their glow sticks around their necks and their birkenstalks on their feet!

two posts in one night? is it christmas?
your new coat is awesome, and i love that you used the freezer trick. when i was a dirty college student, i used to stick my flip flops in the freezer to kill bacteria.

That jacket is amazing! SO jealous.

What does sticking it in a freezer do? I am always afraid to buy vintage fur coats at thrift stores b/c I don't feel like paying for the professional cleaning.

We need an entire post on this freezing business. I can imagine what it's for...but is this the same freezer as the ice and the popsicles?

You put the coat in the freezer?! Brilliant! (it's beautiful, btw)

I just purchased a BEAUTIFUL navy blue suede coat (thrifted) and am unsure of how to 'disinfect' - or so to speak. Do you think a jaunt in the freezer would work for me too??
