This Week I Thrifted...

friendthrift1friendthrift3

Leather skirt? Thrifted Silk blouse? Thrifted and then swapped Cowl? Old school project
What? A patterned leather skirt
Where? Bibles for Mission (here)
How much? $1
Why? I have this annoying habit where I can't leave good things behind at a thrift store... Which is fine, except I end up buying clothes that don't fit me... I'll either convince myself I am going to give up wine and get up at 4 a.m. to do zumbalicious pilates yoga before work to make myself fit into them or I buy them for a friend. Buying clothing for friends is a sweet sentiment, but sometimes I need to be reminded that, just because I would think that a skirt with sequined cats and mohair camels would be the stuff dreams are made of, doesn't mean that my friends agree.
But it was $1 day at Bibles for Mission and even though the racks of clothes were completely picked over, I found this great tan leather skirt. It won't fit me but I had to take it along because... it's awesome and a dollar. So, I'll send it along to a friend and she better love it or I'll take her off my blog roll... I'm kidding, I would never threaten Internet consequences... if she doesn't love it, I'll just tackle her.

I thrifted this red sweater cape last year and finally wore it yesterday! Love thrifting trends. So easy on the pocketbook and fun!

I do the same thing. Except I don't give them away. I hoard them aaaaaall to myself. It's becoming a problem. :)

I love that skirt!! This week, I thrifted an authentic brown coach belt. I was in need of a brown belt since my little dog chewed my other one O_o
All in all...it was a good week. ^_^

Jentine would you consider selling them online to, say..... us blog readers?! Coz I'd sure LOVE to buy some of the stuff you thrift :)

What a great skirt! I really love that whole outfit! I'm guilty of buying things that will never fit because I love them so much...it's so difficult to give things up!

I do the same thing. My friend's little sister (that I've only met once) won best dressed at her high school because I ended up buying her so many clothes. If it's a great item that I know someone else might like I almost always end up buying it, but sometimes it's borderline creepy (aka buying your friend's little sister jeans).

I can't resist leaving things behind either. Especially 1$ days at the BFM.

Wow! Only one dollar, that's amazing. My finds this week were an Ann Taylor Loft mustard colored swiss dot shirt with a ruffle and an awesome Banana Republic tie-neck sleeveless blouse in navy, brown, and cream - both from Goodwill, but not for a dollar. :)

That skirt is divine. If you run across some size 6 anything feel free to send it my way. :)

Sadly, I haven't gone thrifting the entire week. I couldn't find a way to squeeze it in. I need a 24 hour thrift spot to open up!

Oh why can't I find leather skirts for $1? I love that outfit. All of it. The color combo is great.

I just bought a 80-era jumper for $3. I'll try to modernize it so I don't look like the mom on Family Ties.

Think this skirt has been my favorite thrifted goodie from your huge and amazing closet! The print is just perfect and so is the silhouette!

Your thrifting skills are amazing. I LOVE this outfit. It's unfortunate it doesn't fit because it's so cute! But sometimes it's just as good to look at an outfit as it is to wear it...only sometimes though.

So this week I was totally, completely broke and by Wednesday had convinced myself that mashed potatoes with leftover breakfast sausage mixed in would be a satisfying meal for two more days until payday came on Friday... but I needed a potato masher... and being broke and cheap I refused to pay $8 for the potato masher at the grocery store so I popped into the Goodwill two stores down hoping on the off chance they'd have a potato masher in the kitchen bin that didn't give me the heebies and not only did they have a potato masher (are we counting how many times I've typed potato masher?) but everything in the kitchen bin was only 50 cents and THEN on the way to the cash register a hot pink dress that looked like it *might* be silk caught my eye hanging on the last chance rack and not only was it 100% silk, it was also DIANE VON FREAKING FURSTENBURG. I found myself looking over my shoulder expecting to be tackled by a legit thrifter who was on to my find, but the hit never came.

This is of course begs several questions.. one being who the heckies would give a hot pink DVF silk dress with a nipped in waist with matching silk tie, covered button placket, and perfect knee-grazing hem to Goodwill, and two, how would said dress ever, EVER, make it to the last chance rack?

And it was Wednesday so everything on the last chance rack was 50% off... so my $5 DVF dress cost $2.50.

And the mashed potato breakfast sausage medley was wholly satisfying indeed.

You, my friend, are a thrifting goddess. GODDESS.

That leather skirt is incredible, and for $1??!?! Amazing. Plus, that is some serious good kharma you get for passing along such a fabulous find.

I love the way you styled the skirt here, too. That knitted cowl is beautiful, and really makes that skirt into an outfit.

I thirfted a midi-length navy silk polka dot skirt ($3), a few nice button-downs for work (Ralph Lauren, Land's End, $3/ea), and a Louis Vuitton shoulder bag ($3)(!!!!). The LV isn't my style, but hey, it was only $3.

Went to Value Village his week and found an amazing brand new blazer from Banana Republic but was applaud when I saw the price..... ,$85..... r u kidding me Value Village. Found the supervisor who informs that it may be correct as it was brand new, but I asked to speak with the Mgr who informed there was a pricing error and I got my brown tweed jacket for $7.99.

This is weird to post now since the thread is old but none of my friends are into fashion and I HAVE TO TELL SOMEONE that the thrift gods smiled on me today. A beautiful sheer Chloe floral blouse for $3. A boxy silk hot pink/purple DVF blouse for $3. A Tahari gathered-neck tank for $1. And this amazing black and gold Gap blouse with big crazy shoulders for $2, and I'm going to wear that one OUT this party season. Man, when I saw that Chloe blouse, I thought "I have to go comment on My Edit, this is unreal!" I've been striking out at my local thrifts for weeks, SO HAPPY the losing streak is over!
