Minivan

mom5mom2mom7mom4mom6

Pants? Steilmann, thrifted Blouse? Joe Fresh Shoes? Jefferey Campbell Purse? Thrifted Cuffs? Auction sale Necklaces? Banana Republic and Cuba

The goal was to rescue the printed capri pants. They were a case of Sunny D and a minivan away from soccer mom attire. I wanted to make them into cropped flares but alas, I can not make lemonade without lemons or cropped flares without extra seam allowance. So, I just took them in to make them slim fit, piled on the jewelry and added my highest heels. I think there is a formula in there somewhere for avoiding the pitfalls of the soccer mom look.

I clearly can't seem to stop wearing these heels. I won a gift card and stumped on what to order, I took a chance on these kids, even though they were a size small (I am usually big foot 10, these are 9). I can't believe how comfortable they are... it's like walking on a tall, fun, terry cloth cloud of goodness. Because they are so comfortable, I seem to forget just how behemoth I am when I stomp around. I was reminded when I had to lean way down to hug my father-in-law. It was awkward. And awesome... Is that saying copyrighted yet?

Fantastic pants. No idea what a soccer mum ('mom', hah!) looks like - I'm so international, yeah . .

Heehee, you quoted Sydney! Damn, I'm in serious withdrawal from her outfit posts. It's been aaaaages . .

Sweet jeebus, I think I had those exact pants in denim at the end of the 80s!

But you are rocking them. And you're right: it's the bada$$ shoes and the jewellery that keep them out of the soccer league.

OK you totally made these pants look great! I've been seeing some amazing printed cropped pants popping up all over the place, and although I think they're fabulous I would hate to look like a frumpy mommy (I've got the mom thing down, but refuse to own a mini van!)

I may get brave and take some style lessons from you! (I just might have to leave the kid at home to go out i public)

On you? Adorable. On me? It would be a Chico's kind of day. Yikes. I'm already a mom in the suburbs. But no minivan. I gave up my convertible for my kids but YOU CAN'T MAKE ME BUY A MINIVAN.

I have those shoes in tan. LOVE THEM. I'm eying your red ones enviously though - do you think 2 pairs is too much? They are super comfy. And tall.

Heeeeey. Big foot size 10? I'm a size 10.5! I can sometimes squeeze into a 10, but more often than not, I have to get them a 10.5 or 11. :/

Ooh, lady, I am loving these shoes! So fun! Such a great color! And total bonus that they are comfy to boot!

I'm loving those pants! I don't know any minivan driving momma that would look that good in those pants, & the accessories and those shoes totally take it to another level! I love it!

Would love it if you would share how you took in the pants. I have some I would love to do that to.....some vintage old man pants that fit and hang great, but a bit too big. Was this easy to do? I'm not an experienced seamstress. Thanks! ~Serene

Oooooh, I love your cropped pants and shoes! Are your heels really that comfortable? I'm afraid to walk in heels like those but if you say they're comfy then maybe I'll try some on!

You definitely took those pants away from the ledge of soccer mom status. I know what you're saying about those heels, mine are so comfy but I'm huge in them! (maybe 6'3''!?)

Can I first say how envious I am that you can customize your own wardrobe like this?
Secondly, the fact that you took those pants from frumpy mom into MILFdom makes you ROCK.
I am beyond impressed.

I have zeroed in on the white blouse! And the excellent yoke on it.

Can you be more cuter? I love your pants! Remember Project Runway when some girl took a pair of toile mom pants and turned them into capris? Well you did a million times better than her with styling. It's fantastic:)

hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!! love that last reference :) and as a mom that runs as fast as my little legs can carry me away from anything capri or minivan related, believe me when i say, these are RAD. way better than soccer mom. because none of them would wear those bad ass heels. seriously, i'd come up to your navel if you wore these around me!! (totally not complaing :)

Those are indeed awesome shoes - and count me as one of the bigfoot gals! I'm size 9-10 as well...however, only 5'4" (grumble).

The pants are...well...I admire them on you, but yeah...can't go there, memories of 90s palazzo pants are scaring me... ;)

The shooooooes oh my goodness. Amazing choice, very well done. Also, I think that the ideal fit (ie without the minivan-requisite belly-pooch) is what keeps these pants from being too mommish. Also, the shoooooes.

I mean...you really made these work (said in Tim G's voice).

SO not mama capris! Well, maybe if you paired them with a matching red linen shirt that was 10 inches wider than your body and had matching flower appliques on the shoulder. Also, you're really make me want those shoes! xo

wow i love this phenomenal look because there is so much going on and it makes it all so interesting. love the pants, not only because of the quirky print but the fact that it is pretty short. the blouse looks bohemian and elegant at the same time. but the shoes oh the shoes make it so magnificent. the color and the fabric of the shoes is just amazing, it is like they are making your feet glow

Anon- I did go to the 50% off sale but I didn't get there until 8pm. I was definately picked over by then BUT I did score a crazy good safari vest thingy. It made the trip worth it.
