More Pictures, Less Words

Dress? Thrifted Belt? Michael Kors, Winners Shoes? Ralph Lauren, DSW Ponyhair clutch? Thrifted Necklace? h&m

This isn't the first time that I have mixed a vintage floral dress with the leopard belt.

It is however, the first time on this blog that I can think of absolutely nothing to write. NOTHING. I might as well test the waters and see if I can become one of the fashion bloggers who just posts pictures and adds little text. If I never had to write for a post again, I would have so much free time I could probably clean the grout between the bathroom tiles with a toothbrush. Perhaps for your sake but mostly for Matt's toothbrush's sake, I hope this writer's block clears up tomorrow.

Urban Weeds

Jacket? Ralph Lauren, thrifted Silk Shirt? Thrifted Crochet top? Thrifted Pants? Marc Aurel , Winners Shoes? Dumond Purse? Tignanello, thrifted Ring? Gift from my parents Booty picture? c/o my kindness

Today you will learn how deep my landscape nerdiness runs. I can hardly focus on writing a post because every time I look at the pictures above, those weeds along the bottom of the hedge just kill me. Make. them. go. away.

People always apologize for their gardens when they have me over; assuming I am judging the weeds between the flagstones, the unpruned shrubs and the flowers that need deadheading. 'No, no' I say 'I am not judging' and it's mostly true. I judge not your gardening if you judge not the fact that my cat threw up on the stairs... again. But while I try not to judge, I can't help but notice all those things. That's part of my job.

But you know what's not part of my job? That particular hedge and its accompanying weeds. Step away from the weeds Jentine! There is a big, beautiful world out there, just waiting to be discovered!

Dress? h&m (recent) Belt? Thrifted Trench? Club Monaco, thrifted Boots? Winners Harness? Clyde's Rebirth photos by Miz Merl

One of the reasons I went to NYC was to join in the celebration of Morgan's birthday. Cause that is what I do... I travel the country to deliver birthday bumps. Who's next?

I planned on wearing the belt half inside and half outside my dress. I did the same thing with this cape, open the side seams just enough to slide a belt through... It gives me a little shape up front and keeps the pretty drape in the back free. What I didn't plan on, was having access to Merl's handmade Clyde's Rebirth jewelry and her wares looping their way through the dress and making me feel special all night. I also didn't plan on wearing flats... but I decided to piggy back a friend while wearing heels the night before and you can guess exactly what happened. My ankle is still tender.

That night we watched the sun set over the New York skyline from a rooftop patio in Brooklyn and we cramped in as much conversation as we could. Sound romantic? It was. I am very thankful I could personally deliver Morgan her birthday bumps this year.

It should be noted that these pictures were taken on Saturday night. At the time, it just seemed ironic to put the girl from Canada in front of the huge American flag that dominated the street. The following evening we were hanging around watching a movie, when the news of Bin Laden's death broke on Twitter. And just as I will always remember the moment I heard about the attacks on 9/11, I will always remember this historical event as well. An event that hit closer to home in the company of my American friends.

Everyday Life

(I'm in my work clothes and I still do intense fashion blogger side glances...)

I describe my blog as 'a life between peeptoes and steeltoes'... yet, it seems to me, that I talk much more about the peeptoes than the steeltoes. If you are interested in learning a bit more about my secret life of landscaping, you should check out the feature that Cubicle Chic did about my work and work style (or lack thereof...). Click here to read about why you should be extra nice to me in the winter and why I over dress for Tupperware parties.
