This Week I Thrifted...

www1

This week I thrifted a leopard print (yes, I am a nerd and I just googled to make sure that this is, indeed, a leopard print), cowhide belt.

Where? Talize, Hamilton
How much? $5 minus student discount and a donation coupon... so, about $3.50
Why? Because I wear belts a lot. Because I wear my other leopard print belt a lot (here and here). Because a leopard print belt is the easiest way to be a fashion super starrrrr! and mix prints. And because no matter what happens, there will be a magazine out there that'll tell you that this fall's hottest trends are tweed, lace and leopard print... just like last year. So, you might as well join the trend for $3.50 instead of $80...

What did you thrift this week?

I love it! I need a good leopard belt. Putting that on my wish list now!

I thrifted some pants this week! Black cargo skinnies, pink bootcut pants for work, and embroidered white linen for the beach. Fabulous :o)

I was just about to do a bit of a post about what I thrifted too:) So I thrifted a fantastic chevron striped summer dress, a cute 70s tulip printed skirt, a vintage chambray maxi skirt, and a cute little poison ring.

I ALWAYS have to google the difference between leopard and cheetah print, you are not a lonely nerd. I also regularly check words for spelling and definition before finalizing a tweet. Nice work on the cheap belt! You can never own too much leopard print.

I haven't thrifted a thing this week and I am down to my last $15 dollars of "fun money" for the weekend! It will probably go for a burger and beer instead of something awesome. Arguably burgers and beer are awesome. Maybe I'll nix the burger and go thrifting (clearly you wouldn't nix beer).

I just posted a great shirt I got for a dollar. It still had the price tag on it. I wore it for the first time today but I think I actually got it 2 weeks ago. Does that still count?

Here it is if you're curious

I am jealous of that belt though!

I thrifted some amazing things today! An Ann Taylor LOFT shirt and dress, and an outrageous pair of BCBG pants! There are pictures on my blog :) I've been trying to throw some leopard print into the mix-I love the belt idea!

I made myself not go thrifting this week. Not until I get things posted on Etsy. Because I have a problem of buying fantastic things even when they're not my size. When I start whispering "hoarder" to myself every time I go out to the garage I know it might be too much. . . :)

I just thrifted today! A double-horse-head brooch (it's magnificent).

i thrifted the prettiest BCBG dress ever ... it's a size too small, but for the price i need to lose a dress size anyway. i also thrifted a vintage thermos, and that had the tupperware/thermos nerd in me pretty stoked.

Thrifting...yummmmm. This last week I thrifted an antique oak wardrobe complete with lock 'n key. My house has no closets so I am gradually accumulating a helpful wardrobe of wardrobes. That killed the budget, but I did get a few other items:

Two Merona t-shirts, nice rayon blend ones, unworn, in burgundy and lavender. A Wilson's black suede jacket, perfect condition and it fits me--which is weird as I have very short arms. A beautiful silk floral peasant top, blouson style but the kind that hits at the waist, not the hips. Unusual colors--orange, purple, and olivine taupe shaded with black, rust and gold, on cream. All soft, blurry watercolors not brights. An Odille top, peach with little black playing card suits. A late 80s-early 90s jumper dress, very interesting and eccentric design with drop waist, flared shorter skirt and novelty prints--aqua with tiny pink flowers on the bodice, and brownish black with sketches of vintage shoes on the skirt. Great molded flower buttons too. It's a boutique brand we carried in the shop where I worked back then--funny to see this label after more than 20 years. Also a black and white print cotton skirt by Travelsmith, a silk georgette skirt with abstract scenes of Paris in warm tones, and a pair of MiuMiu green patent low heeled mary janes. Those have a bad ding on one of the heels but I got them anyway, for obvious reasons, especially because they fit perfectly. If I can't fix em oh well--three bucks! :-) Oh...and I got a silk leopard scarf. Because yes, you cannot ever have too much leopard print!

I can't go again till next month. And I am having a garage sale!!!

Wow, that was a long post! sorry lol...I guess it was a good haul, eh?

Great belt!

I've had a little success of late, getting a straw bag (ideal for hols) top and shoes. (even though I am still on my shoe ban!) I did have a little nosey in the local thrift store yesterday but they didn't have anything of interest.

This belt is so cute! I'm looking for a perfect leopard skinny belt, which turns out to be a real hard to find item over here! x

I'm am so jealous of your cute belt! I've been looking for one just like that with no luck. This week I picked up two silk skirts, a few cute vintage blouses, and some back to school western shirts for my too-hip-for-his-own-good teenage son.

I thrifted a pristine Maxstudio wool suit (found as separates!) for the fall. I love autumn dressing!

That belt is really cute! And it's funny how the "new trends" always seem to be the exact same... And as for "new trends," can't forget neutrals or nautical-themed anything. Those crop up every year it seems! =).

I thrifted a leopard print belt this week too!!!! Twinsies ;)

I thrifted an amazing royal blue knee-length skirt, and some amazing vintage peep-toes. So excited to wear them! Oh, and I also found True Blood season 2 on Blu-Ray for $3, and an old-school complete poker set... SCORE.

Cute belt! I had plenty of luck thrifting this week. I found some awesome grunge-y fall florals; 2 skirts, a top and a dress. So what if grunge was fashionable a year ago, I'm going all in now. :)

Love it! You're definitely flying the flag for thrifting trends rather than spending a fortune! Ditto on the leopard print this week...I found a *hideous* long sleeve high necked leopard print blouse, which is now awaiting a makeover on my sewing table. It's going to be good! x

What a great belt, especially for $3.50!
You'll be proud to know i went to Value Village and found a 100% merino wool bright yellow cardigan jacket from Club Monaco for $7.
Yes. That just happened. :)

I got a sweet belt and an old lady blazer that I'm quite certain has matching pants floating around somewhere out there.

Great find! I scored a pair of Citizens of Humanity Hutton jeans for $8 and brand new Longchamp makeup bag for $2! I have a serious addition to Goodwill!

Linda said...

Nothing at all...so I guess I don't get a prize. :(

i love this belt! and i love "what i thrifted" posts. i thrifted a navy-blue button down vintage dress with a peter-pan collar, a handmade lace skirt, a shimmery blue cowl-neck sleeveless vintage dress, and a strapless black-and-white flowery dress. so, maybe i got a little out of hand. thrifting in tokyo is AWESOME (soooo many shops, and such a high turnover that many items are still on trend). but a little pricy... that same belt would probably go for at least $8 here.

Emily {tomorrow never knows} said...

it kinda makes me laugh that it's COW hide... LEOPARD print. no? just me?
i thrifted no goodies this weekend. but i did go to ikea... and get a whole lotta shit from my sister who's moving across the world. that count?

Were you behind the cool bleaching effect on that denim tunic top? If so, I need a tutorial. Stat. ;-)

I found and purchased what is allegedly a Lanvin dress. For $3. The print is awesome enough that even if it isn't legit, I love it.

I'm all late but I definitely went thrift shopping last week. I found the cutest little granny chic floral vintage dress and a cyan blue silk skirt (it has a bit of a snakeskin print on it), among other things.

I have the worst luck finding any type of accessories at the thrift store. I have probably every color imaginable in blazers but no accessories.

Awesome price on the belt. I got my leopard print belt at the next best place, Target.

I've been looking for a leopard print belt for months now since highly fashionable people like you have recommended it! No dice yet. I also love that shirt.
