Jacket? Armani, antique store Pants? Zara Shoes? Ralph Lauren, DSW Clutch? Thrifted
The conclusion to my post from yesterday is as follows. I bought the Armani sheer jacket even though my honest attempts at raising the money for said jacket by selling stuff to Plato's Closet was a big waste of time. Instead I waited for a few days and when I was still dreaming about the delightful striped chiffon, I went back to the antique store and asked what we could work out price wise. Without dickering (your assignment this week is to use the word dicker in a sentence), the owner immediately dropped the price from $90 to $60. We had ourselves a deal and the jacket came home with me.
And now I must rationalize the purchase.
I deserve the jacket because if I put my regular wage on the amount of time it took me to get the clothes organized and on the drive time to Plato's Closet, then I could buy myself the jacket and some fancy boxed wine.
I deserve the jacket because if I put a resale value on all those clothes that I was going to sell but I am now swapping/donating, I would have been able to afford the jacket at full price.
I deserve the jacket because Matt spends a lot of money on Tim Horton's coffee.
I need a nap... guilt mathematics is tiring work.

Love the pants.
You can justify the purchase simply because that is a freaking amazing piece of clothing. And it was Armani, for $60. 'Nuff said. Also, those pants are fabulous.
Man that armani jacket is faaaaabulous! And for $60!! AWESOME! You look so good in it and I absolutely love how you paired it with the pink pants! HOT and edgy. And I will do my best to follow your assignment and use dicker in a sentence.
I adore this. That's how you justify your purchase! Just think, "If I didn't buy this, my readers wouldn't get to see how awesome it truly is." See, I solved it. No dickering about it.
Seriously, now I need to go get some cropped pants this color. Thanks.

HAHA! My hubby spends so much money on Tim's too!! That and Booster Juice... and you're right; fair is fair! Tim's all week + two Booster Juice's for him = a new pair of shoes for me! YAY! I love that kind of mathematics! I've been a lurker for a few months now.. I think this is my first comment.. just showin some love from one fellow Canadian to another! whoot!
I say that you deserved the Jacket. I am also extremely impressed that you figured out the meaning of such a sneaky word like dicker.
also, excellent note about the Tim Hortons coffee.
also also, love your pants!
That's a very cool jacket, love the hot pink pants.
you work hard and you deserve it!! plus, a timmies a day can really creep up in price!! haha, oh how I miss Tim Horton's!! It looks great on you, you did such a great job styling it!

I say think about all the money you save through thrifting. Take that money and apply it to the jacket. Now with that being said the jacket was a stellar deal:)
Besides, you look fantastic in it:)

$60 for Armani is justification enough, not to mention how smokin' you look in this outfit. Those pants are KILLER! I wish I had more of your shopping guilt.
I like you're rationalizing, and love how you styled up this jacket!
i just told my sister there is no way i'm going to dicker around with moving that stuff this week. Not totally in context but it kinda worked...i like these assignments. what's next? LG
you don't need to justify this purchase; the jacket looks AWESOME. end of story.

When the Jacket is Armani for $60 no justification required! You look hot in those pink pants! love them. Im loving the whole colored pants look but havent yet gathered courage to buy one for myself!
YES. that jacket is to die for and those pants are fabulous.
LOVE this. This outfit is perfect and that purchase is completely justified, no guilt required!!
That jacket is absolutely gorgeous! I really like it paired with those pink pants too. You look great!
Is there any kind of boxed wine that isn't fancy?
Those pants are incredible!

God bless the store owner, Armani for $60 is a great deal and it's so worth it, shirt is gorge! Love the contrast with the bright pink.

If you didn't buy it I wouldn't know that I really, really wanted a chiffon jacket. Like now. :)

The (only) problem with thrifting is that you can lose sight of what full retail goes for these days. Spend ten minutes in a retail store or website, and the prices will bring you back to reality--that you got a lovely jacket at a fabulous price!
This outfit is amazing! the Armani jacket + the sunglight give the photos a magical touch ^^ x
So pretty! Love the pink pants too!
Its awesome that you were able to talk them down $30!
An Armani for $60 would work for me! Besides I could think of plenty of ways to wear that cool sheer jacket...and I know you will too!
Looking forward seeing you wear it w/ other items from your closet.
I'll be "dickering" to get the best deal next time I'm at my local consignment store! Thanks for the encouragement to do so!
It. Is. Fabulous.
We all deserve to treat ourselves once in a while - we work hard so we deserve to look (and feel) good and buy things we love.
Everyone deserves a treat once in a while, and that seems like one you will get a lot of use out of and looks fabulous. I'm also really loving those pink pants!
I think you can also justify the purchase since you thrift so much of your wardrobe! Think how much you would have spent if you paid full-price for all your clothes?! The $60 price tag of the (amazing btw) jacket is totally fine.
You got it! Yay! I guess the dickering worked. Looks great on you, especially with those pants.

So true. Guilt math is the most exhausting of the maths.
It's a good purchase, though, and positively MAGICAL with those pants.
Those bright pink pants are so lovely! They look gorgeous on you.

The sheer jacket is darling, but my focus was all on those pink pants! Love them!
Stunning outfit, fully understand why you had to have this jacket>

My boyfriend drives to the mall like once a week to "look" at new basketball shoes. He's horrible at committing to a purchase to he just peruses every week to see if he'll find a sale, which of course, he never does. I always think well, with the cost of gas driving there and sitting in horrendous Boston traffic you are basically losing money.
I on the other hand find reasons to buy clothes all the time. Including my recent one, I deserve to buy this because I may sell clothes in the future. No set date to sell, just possibly in the future. So I think you are far superior in the rationalizing a purchase arena than me.
No need to justify it - it's beautiful
The jacket was worth it...don't give in to ANY guilt.
I want your pants. And I want them to make me look like I have fantastic thighs.
Such an amazing thrift buy! And you haggled!! That HAS to get bonus marks in the guilt algorithm.
Love it with the barbie pink skinnies, so chic! xx
Yen, you look amazing in that jacket. Besides, I can probably think of at least ten reasons to make you feel guilty about NOT buying it.
If you come to Texas again, don't wear this jacket around Indiana. She would steal this from you. :o)
You deserve this jacket because it looks fabulous with those pants.
Ha, ha..you definitely deserve it and it looks great on you. I am trying to figure out how to justify a $98 + tx pair of pants from Lululemon...humm, I will work out more and they just make your butt look so great. It's really hard to dicker on line.
I love the pink pants (or are they red?). I love how you styled them, you are tempting me to get one pair for myself. Its a good thing, dont worry :)

You could always set up a brief sale on a swap website...and then let your readers know so we can shop your closet leftovers! Several other bloggers have done that (Kendi, Tania from What Would a Nerd Wear, etc). I always seem to find out too late to get the pieces I'd want, but that means there are other lucky readers who did score!
These pictures always remind me of summer nights WAY back when, like middle school, 'cept I wasn't as fashionable/cute as you and I didn't just score an epic Armani jacket. So the sunset I guess, it's just the sunset.
Love the hott pink pants BTW!!! (:
