What was I Thinking?

h&m

Do you ever buy an item of clothing and then wake up the next morning, look at it and laugh? Kinda like Coyote Ugly but with clothes...?

Um, yeah. I bought sequin leggings. And I bought a hairband made of fake hair. Maybe nothing crazy for others but not my regular...

The headband I'm excited to wear. As long as my rootage is dyed within the same range, the braid will make it look like I put effort in when I didn't. I'm just not the fake hair/extension girl. Ok, fine. Truth be told, all I wanted in highschool was one of those clip-on ponytails but thank goodness, I was broke and could not afford such luxury.

But sequin leggings? That's sooo out of my comfort zone. Maybe I bought them because Sasha looks so cute in the ad campaign...

Either way, I challenge you to look through my archives and you will find nary a legging. I think I've worn them out 1.45 times (.45 for a friend's casual bbq down the street, does not count as a full wear). I admire Erin from Work With What You've Got, she always works what she's got in leggings and looks dynamite but I just can't seem to take the plunge myself. Well, until now. We all know I love sequins, so I guess I'm going all out. I was a little stumped on how to actually style them up for daily wear and on my body type (avoiding emphasis on the thighs...), but yesterday I spent some time playing my favourite game, Dress-up in Jentine's Closet, and I have a few ideas.

But I'm very open to suggestions, in fact, I need them...lovely readers?...and while you're at it, what's your closet's Coyote Ugly?

PS. Go to Linda's blog and hassle her because she bought the leggings too and is going to return them. Friends don't let friends return anything sequin.

You know, I had a large dilemma over whether to get them or not, too. I've mulled them over at least 3 times now at H&M (yes, terrifying how often I visit) and just can't seem to find them necessary. That being said, I have 2 other extremely similar pairs already, which I love, so... it's not to say they can't be worked into outfits...

First, you have awesome legs and should totally rock out those thighs! Second, if anyone can pull off sequin leggings - it's you. I actually think they would look really cool with just a plain t-shirt and heels. Can't wait to see what you put together.

I think that you could totally pull them off, just as well as the model in the picture. I honestly think they would look GREAT on you! Try them sometime, maybe they are not an everday wear item but to go out, definitely! It doesn't even matter where you wear them to, what matters is that you try them on and see how you feel in them, i am sure, very sure, that they would look awesome on you!

I just got them too! I've wanted sequin leggings for over a year but the cheapest I could find were Express's at $100, so the H&M ones are such a blessing! :) I only have on perfect outfit in mind for them so far...

haha. those leggings DO look good in theory, don't they?

I'd pair them with a nice oversized white men's top, like in the H&M add. And why not a black blazer or distressed denim jacket just to throw people off. I want to see you work them!

So funny that you bought the leggings too, Linda has been talking about them all week. I think they are awesome, I almost bought them off Linda so they didn't have to go back.

I didn't jump on the legging bandwagon until this fall and now that is all I wear! I am obsessed! I think sequin leggings would be a lot of fun. Dress them down with a casual top. I was considering buying a sequin mini skirt yesterday but then I bought that French Connection dress so it will have to wait for awhile ;)

The leggings are back in the store...I just couldn't do it. I'm sorry, I wrote the post yesterday and just waitng for a good picture, but we will have very similar posts. You can pull off the leggings, I know you can.

oh and PS. Remember in 4th year when you wore leggings with a Long sweater but they leggings were slightly see-through and you were afraid to flash everyone? You rocked them before they were a huge explosion of a trend.

hahaha...i bought the SAME headband. i got it from baker's in the states! I haven't worn it once bc i realized that my hair is not as blonde as the braid. your hair seems to be lighter so it will prolly look great

looking forward to seeing it!!

i actually love those leggings. i think you will pull them off amazingly. i would pair them with long sweater or basic tee and or a black tee and then belt it

I hate that I don't have an H&M. I would buy those in a second.

I can't think of anything NOT to wear them with. An oversized white button up like in the pic, a black tunic, a vintage rock tee, an oversized sweater. Anything. But mostly a vintage rock tee and black leather jacket. Perfection.

LUCKY LUCKY girl.

there's been a bit of a frenzy about these leggings in the blogging world! while they don't fit in to my personal style, I think you would look great in them.

i once bought a red satin erin fetherston for target jumper dress...it hung in my closet, taunting me in its ridiculousness, until i donated it to goodwill. oh well.

I was the same! I refused to wear leggings for the longest time.

I bought this cute dress that was slightly too short, so caved in and went to American Apparel to scoop a pair.

I couldn't bring myself to purchase the full length leggings. I tried on both, but totally kept thinking what IS the point of full length? It totally looks like tights sliced off at the ankle.

Lame.

I settled on a super cute, black capri pair. I've worn the dress, leggings and flats, and gotten quite a few compliments.

When I wear the ensemble I pretend I'm Audrey Hepburn. Heh.

Those dang models in the picture get me in trouble every time. What in the world would make me think I would look anything like them if I threw on my own pair of sequin leggins. Sasha sure is rocking those leggings! I SO dont blame you for the purchase.

I think if anyone could pull off sequin leggings, it is you. You are so gorgeous! I would just pair them with killer heels or booties and a plain white tee or button down men's skirt. Such a chic and feminine version of the classic tuxedo; I think.

Can't wait to see what you decide!

Oh, but I love love love these leggings! You shouldn't regret it at all. I would have bought those same exact leggings if they had had them in my size. I would totally wear them with a black mini and gray blazer to start. Or a super short black dress. Keep it simple and let the leggings do the work.

My Coyote Ugly is a vintage St. John's blazer/dress with shoulder pads. Have had it for three weeks and haven't worn it yet. Hopefully I will pull it out this week!

I totally bought the same leggings. My excuse? I am going as a tightrope walker for my annual Halloween party. I do plan on wearing them out and about...just not sure where yet!

Obviously I'm 4 years late for this blog, but by now, you know that both of them (sequins legging and braided headband) are in trend. I'm glad you kept it :)Also, I work in retail and every time I see sequins, I thought of you. I know that sounds creepy. LOL.
