Time Management

floral2floral3floral4floral1floral5

Dress? Thrifted Tee? Joe Fresh Shoes? Steve Madden, DSW Necklace? Stolen from my Mama Clutch? Coach, bridesmaid gift.

I was going to wear this dress on its own. But the straps were just too short and it would have taken 3 minutes to fix them. Also the boning in the corset was sharp and I needed to expose them and file down the edges. That would have taken 18 minutes. So I put a tee under the dress in order to save me the effort. But then a glimpse in the mirror made me think the dress would look a little better if the hemline was raised, so I spent 22 minutes and hand sewed a new hemline on the tulip skirt.
If my logic and time management make sense to you, I could use you as a friend. If if makes no sense, I could use you as a therapist.
But regardless of how I allotted my time, I like how it all came out. A slouchy tee gave some new life to a 90's dress. Too bad the slouchy tee can't give me better time management skills.

Well, you know, everything happens for a reason. And in this case, I would say the reason was fabulousness. Or something like that. Great dress! I can't believe you thrifted it. I love finds like that!

expose the boning and file down the edges... you know, I am a handy girl and I know how to use a sewing machine, but I never thought to do that as a remedy to those sharp, uncomfortable corset tops. I think I had accepted that pokey pain as a fact of life, something that couldnt be changed. Thank you for the epiphany, I think you just changed my relationship with a few strapless dressed in my closet.
Also, you look amazing in all this color and your styling is impeccable, as always.

hehe totally on board with your time management :) And also, i really love the tee under the dress - i think that's a really cute way to wear a strapless dress when you don't feel like being strapless!

I love it with the tee! And who needs time management anyway? The outfit turned out perfectly so you were remarkably efficient.

Well then... I think we would definitely be friends! I'm loving the finished project- the slouchy tee adds a low-key vibe and also looks so fresh paired with the dressier heels.

Filing this one away for inspiration :)

I love this, I always want to pair a dress and tee like this but I can never find the right combination! This looks so good, and I love the shoes!

Time management is basically impossible as far as I'm concerned. When it comes to clothing at least.

Love this outfit! And kudos on layering a loose T under a tight dress without bunching. Looks great :)

What a great idea to add the t-shirt into the mix! (I might steal that from you.) The dress is fabulous, and it looks really modern the way you styled it. The necklace is awesome, too.

Great outfit. Perhaps your time management may need more nips and tucks than the dress though :)

I never would have guessed it was an old dress! You always manage to make clothes look amazing.

I think you and Kendi should have a TV show where you style people. Or at least some webisodes. I vote for the names... The Sequinizer... or Closet 9-1-1.

first off, your blog is such an inspiration to me - you got such a unique and sarcastic way of presenting yourself which is amazingly refreshing to see such candor.

secondly, i would have never thought to take a bodycon dress and throw it over a simple grey tshirt... i think i'll try it sometime this week to see if it'll work for me...

on the other hand... you are WORKING this dress! love the addition of strappy heels...

I do this kind of thing with strapless dresses a LOT. Do you have suggestions for keeping them up? I usually safety pin them to the shirt with the safety pins inside the t-shirt, but they always kind of show at least a little.

Super, super cute, by the way. Love the florals!
