Dress? h&m by Sonia Rykiel
Plaid shirt? ?, Winners
Leopard pumps? Steve Madden, DSW
Belt? Roots, thrifted
Clutch? thrifted
Bangle? thrifted

I wear this shirt a lot. It's been on my blog often and countless times it's also my 'Matt's yelling at me to hurry up and I don't like what I'm wearing' back-up shirt. I try to wear something else but this shirt always wins. It's plaid, it's long enough to tuck in and it makes any outfit so cheery. I may not always be cheery but my shirt is. Hey, a plaid shirt doesn't have PMS...
I love taking pictures at this spot by the bay. Unfortunately, if the weather is nice, it's over run with people trying to cram in family time. It was rainy so I took advantage of the isolation and got some pictures. My shoes were also a product of the weather. I had other shoe plans but I didn't feel like dealing with squishy, wet toes from the rain. So I wore my trusty leopard print pumps. They are so comfortable and the shape is very classic and they work with anything. I have worn them a lot, so they have seen better days and the cobbler but they look nice out of direct sunlight. This winter I saw a pretty pair of zebra printed, horsehair (or cowhide?) booties and I thought they might make a good replacement. I didn't really need them, so I patiently waited for the final sales. I saw them later for $102 and I was still unsure. This kid needs at the very least 50% off and I figured I'd wait some more. At the bitter end of winter I saw that the store (a reputable chain store, no less...) had an extra 20% off final prices. I thought with another discount off $102 (it was about time for another discount), plus 20% off and I might be in for some wild new booties. I checked the price and they were marked back up to $120, minus 20%...so, let me do the math for you.... that makes the boots $98. I wait patiently for months for my boots and they are going to give me just $4 off? Is that even allowed? Jacking the prices up and down and tricking shoppers (not me... I'm too sale savvy)? Soooo... I didn't get the booties. And I added a store to my not cool list.

I'm a huge fan of this outfit from the plaid shirt to the leopard print pumps and everything in between! I love the subtly mixed neutrals and patterns!

Love love love the one-shoulder dress fancy dress over the plaid shirt. Such an odd combo, but it totally works. And bits of plaid in an outfit is so quintessentially Canadian that it makes it extra awesome.

This is one of my favorites! The plaid with the one shoulder dress is brilliant, and plaid on you so is soooo classic. That's the beautiful blonde hair, methinks. And the statuesque frame. I could NEVER pull this off but damn I'm so going to try. I love it!

So brilliant, I adore this outfit! Bummer about the booties, but maybe it was a sign. I bet they were impossible to walk in, or would have fallen apart in less time than you waited for them to be marked down!

I absolutely love the way you styled your shirt under that one-shoulder dress...I never would have thought of it. You look marvelous!

I love that shirt. No wonder you wear it a lot, it's so perfect! That second picture of you is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. What a great location!

i love that picture where you can only see your legs out from under the umbrella. so cute!

That is lousy about that store marking them back up to mark them down... i really didn't think that was allowed... so weird. I'd cross them off my places to shop too.

What a great outfit. I love the more formal dress with the super casual plaid shirt. The leopard pumps are such a great touch.

LOOK AT YOU! You've come so far in a year, no way would I ever think to pair an asym dress over a plaid shirt - LOVE the out of the box thinking!

The shirt and dress combo is so unexpected but it looks amazing!

I love every stitch. I never would have thought to do a one-shoulder dress with a button down. Always pushing. Always inspiring. ;)

U are gorgeous! Love the pics with the umbrella!

Oh lady. The plaid with the one-shoulder dress is just inspired.

And that last photo of you is breathtaking.

How do you come up with these unexpected looks that work so well??!! I love it...gonna have to give this one a try myself :)

This looks fantastic on you! I say wear that plaid shirt as much as you want because I lvoe the different ways you style it! It always looks different and fresh.

And that's so lame that stores can do that! I say if it's lowered, it STAYS lowered. I know one store that did that because they realized people started buying that item left and right. So lame.

What a genius idea! I have a black one-strap dress and I never wear it because well, strapless bras are the devil and I'm only willing to bust one out a few times a year. This solves my problem! Love the go-to shirt!

OMG, I LOVE this mix!! I never would've thought of these layers and textures together... I'm going to try to rip this look off tomorrow ;-)

This look is genius! I feel like it's so hard to layer dresses over button-downs without them looking ill-fitted and you did it perfectly! I love the asymmetrical dress with the plaid!

What a great combo! A smart dress with a casual shirt. But with a twist. It works so well!

Once it's on clearance they can't mark it back up. That's no fair! I'm glad you didn't give in to the $4 savings. Damn the man I say.

i hate it when stores do that! the trickery!!

i love the off the shoulder dress with the button down!

this backdrop is amazing. ah, the colorwheel! you always get it right!

Love the leopard with plaid and how it all comes together with the classic black dress! Also, adorable purse!

I figure the dutch and the scottish must have some closely related bloodlines, because I get inappropriately excited when you start talking deals and sales. 50% off aint no shame! I hem and haw (or something like that) over things like this all the time.. (well it's 45% of NOW, but by tomorrow it could be 57% off.. I'll come back again and check later).
Plaid and leopard print, never in a million years I thought could work, but you clearly make it happen.
And although I'm moderately lactose intolerant (there's your fun didn't need to know fact for the day) just for this wicked leoplaid combo, I WILL try cheese in Utrecht or Amsterdam or wherever in Holland I'm going.

I have a serious crush on that clutch.

Love this look! The plaid gets so sexy under this dress, and the dress gets toned down (but funked up) with the trusty plaid underneath. The accesories are awesome, too. So great!

You are my fashion hero. A one-shouldered dress with a flannel shirt? And you make it look so easy! Also, I need that clutch. Yes, I need it. What else do you expect me to carry with me in Miami next month? Fab outfit, dear.

I love your mix of prints here, and pairing that flannel shirt and one-shouldered dress is genius. You leave me speechless with how awesome your sartorial decisions are.

Love the backdrop too, btw!

I have never seen someone wear a dress like that over a shirt!!! Like never!! I have two of those of the shoulder dresses that I love-but-can't-wear-till-warm-weather that I just might try to do this with!! Wow !! Thank you so much! I will be sure to give credit when I do (if it works for me! I don't have a Go-to plaid shirt like that!) And your hand bag is beyond fabulous! Well done woman (as usual!)

Ok, ok.. I'm delurking here (after two months or so) to tell you that:

1. you're hilarious. I love that you have a style blog and a genuine sense of humour. That pretty much rules. "Plaid shirts don't have PMS.." um, awesome.

2. I live in Toronto and love seeing more Canadians jump on the fashion blog thing because, well, we Canadians can throw together a pretty solid outfit every now and again. Nice to see.

3. Along with your humour, you have sarcasm, which, next to English, is basically my first language, so...

4. You mention Winners a lot. Awesome. Enough said.

Keep at 'er.
