Rainbow Not-Quite-Bright!

final1

Silk blouse? I.D., Winners
Skirt? Pink Tartan, Winners (+80% off, final clearance)
Tights? ?, The Bay
Shoes? Steve Madden, DSW
Clutch? thrifted (barely visible but I felt so guilty that I had an all 'new' outfit that I made sure my purse was thrifted)
Ring? Hema in Holland

Almost a year ago, before anyone read my blog (besides Matt...), I wrote a hate-fest post about coloured tights. Now, I see almost every blogger donning colourful leg wear and I'm scared to rant because I don't want to lose my place in Fashion Blogger-dom. What would I do without fashion blogging? Wear track pants everyday? Keep my eyes on the road instead of looking for potential photo spots?
Anyways, for all you crazy tights wearing peeps out there, I wore a pair of purple tights. And I liked it. But don't push it, this is as far as this kid will go... Yes, people can pull off coloured tights with style and sass, some even look fabulous... But I do wonder if they look fabulous because of the coloured tights, or if it's just a natural state of being for them and by extension their leg wear is included? Whatever, just my opinion... but if anyone dares to disagree, I will turn my comments off. Haha, too soon? I kid, I kid...

Oh wow... I suddenly got some hard core writer's block. I just wanted to let you guys know that Winners (the Canadian T.J. Maxx but better!) has their final clearance on... that I was really glad this weekend (for once) that Matt plays hockey because I used hockey tape to give my skirt a quick 'weekend friendly' hem.... and that my stairs used to be even uglier when they had wrinkled pink carpet on them (yes, we're awaiting new carpet).

Had to comment that I love your tights here...but you certainly are welcome to mail them to me and never don them again ;).

hey they look great!! love that top too. no worries on losing your place in fashion blogger-dom, you have too much great style for that.

you crack me up -- i agree on the track suits and keeping your eyes on the road. that's all my husband and I do is look out for potential photo shoot spots.

I'm glad you liked it because they really do look nice! I have a fuschia pair but that's as colored as I've worn.

I love your top and those tights.
Don't worry about once-hating colored tights -- I used to, and while I like them on other bloggers, I haven't been made a full convert yet -- I still just own a pair of purple tights.

First thing's first - Love the outfit. Especially the top and, yes, the tights. Second - I really must visit Canada and this Winners. You've got me Googling first thing in the morning.

I am absolutely with you, for the most part, on the colored tights thing. I like ones that have hues of neutral in them, and I like the hardcore rainbow bright look on other people, but the few times I've tried it, I end up looking like I'm trying out for Ronald McDonald.

Oh, and I laughed out loud at your comments comment, which, since it's not yet 7 am, made Joe call out "what's wrong?" from the bedroom. He really should know by now. Nothing's wrong, it's just my all-consuming fashion blogging hobby/obsession/life-stealer. He'll get his girlfriend back eventually. Maybe for Valentine's Day.

I really like how you mixed the pattern of the tights with the blouse. I would totally wear this outfit to work... whenever I get a job ;)

I LOVE those tights - the purple and the argyle pattern are perfect. I love how you paired them, too, with a colorful shirt - they play off each other so well. Gorgeous!

And I also laughed out loud when I read your post! Too funny!

love these photos! ...i have these flower-patterned tights, and i like them as an idea but can never bring myself to wear them cause something is just "off". i'm glad i'm not the only one who has had tights-doubts.

and i love your stairwell! i know it's mid-renovation but something about it, just like that, is awesome.

Hahahaha, bright tights and a pattern mix to boot! I think it's interesting that bright legwear is offputting to some. I never even think twice about it.

Hey, different strokes for different strokes :) I think style is all about wearing what you love and not being a slave to trends.

Anyway, these are really REALLY cool pictures! And the purple tights look pretty fabulous!

You always kill me (in a good way) with your quirky posts that always make me smile. Anyways, I do wear color tights...ALOT...but sometimes I wonder if I really should be. Only because I feel like I look like an elf, but I still can't help myself. LOL

Oh and I just discovered that Winners was the Canadien version of TJ Maxx... now I am even more jealous of Canada!

haha--i like the colored tights on you. and i have to say, rant away! your blog is such a breath of fresh air amongst the fashion bloggers--it's funny and satirical and yet you are still fashion icon because your pictures are lovely and your combos are inventive and your writing is funnier than anyone's (bar none).

I love the colored tights on you :) I wish we had a Winners here, clearly after seeing all your good deals.

Absolutely love that blouse - the color, print and tie make it perfect! And I have had changes of opinion in regards to colored and patterned tights too. Even though I've worn them, I'm still not sure I like them on me. But I love them on you!

Hey there :) Thank you so much for your comment on my blog! I actually tried to thrift clogs for a while too. I found a pretty decent pair but when I put my foot inside all this gross cracked leather fell out. Haha...so I went the "new" route. Anyway, carry on! Love your blog.

Posts like this one are the reason why I love your blog. You always say it like you see it and I love your style.

Your comment about removing comments made me laugh.

"Keep my eyes on the road instead of looking for potential photo spots?"

LMAO. I thought that I was the only one who did that. I just got back from lunch, and I actually pulled over at a couple of places and snapped pictures of potential locations so that I won't forget about them!

And using the frame was genius. Brilliant!

Such great tights, you pull them off well, but what I really like is the frame!! :)
