This Year I Thrifted...

dk4
I thought it would be hard to pick my favourite thrift find of 2011 but it was ridiculously easy. This Donna Karan skirt blasts my mind everytime I look at it and I can't believe I thrifted it. This skirt is wool and silk goodness, with razor sharp darting and super flattering seam placement. This skirt isn't from a diffusion line, it is straight up Donna Karan... yes, I like to brag but I did another little search and this skirt is the closest thing I could find available for sale on the world wide web. Keep in mind, the price is in pounds and my skirt is prettier... I'm might be biased though.
I need to wear this skirt more. I think I might like it so much that I am afraid to wear it out, though mostly I am afraid for anyone I make eye contact with while wearing it. Because if I have your attention, I am going to point out every detail of superior craftsmenship and that would take a long time... Avoid me if you see me wearing this skirt.

I'm so glad I started doing the 'This Week I Thrifted...' posts this year. I love hearing about what you thrifted! There was one story left for me in the comments that involved going to the thrift store for a potato masher and resulted in leaving said thrift store with some silk DvF. That tale is bound to become a classic thrift fairy tale, wherein the heroine and the DvF dress live happily ever after...

Now tell me, what was your best thrift find of 2011?

Amazing skirt! Last week I found a quilted Burberry jacket at salvation army. Haven't even blogged about it yet - you are the first ones to know!

First off let me tell you that I thought of you while thrifting this week. I turned to my friend ans said 'there is this girl, who's blog I follow, who always has the cutest thrifted blazers! I am finding a cute blazer today!'...and I did!
Secondly, I guess it's not my favorite one thing, but I have had the best luck with jeans this week! I have found 6 pairs of really expensive, fits me perfect, LONG {I'm 5'10"} jeans! So amazing!
Thanks for sharing your finds with us all year, I can't wait to see what next year brings!

Ok that is the most fantastic skirt ever! My favorite thrift this year was kind of not a thrift at all. My mom brought me a whole bag of my grandma's old clothes. I was very close to her and she had great taste so I was super excited about it. When I started going through it I found this beautiful blue blouse and upon inspection I found that it was a vintage DvF! After flipping out and showing it to my husband who said "What's a Diane von Furstenberg" (men!) I tried it on and it fit perfectly! I love t so much and it means even more that it belonged to my grandma! I hope you have a fantastic new year Yen! You are such an inspiration! :)

What a gorgeous outfit. You totally scored. My best thrifted item this year was a pair of kitten heeled slingbacks.

Happy New Year!

This skirt is amazing - it definitely deserves the high praise, and it looks great on you! My favorite thrifted find this year was a black ALC boucle jacket (I usually loathe boucle) with fitted, ruched leather sleeves. I love that it's a basic black jacket but has crazy interesting texture, so it's great to throw on top of whatever and feel quite polished.

We've gotten quite lucky with finding a few pairs of Ferragamos this year.

yay! Love the outfit, and the thrifting posts this year :) The best thing I thrifted was 2 pairs of Citizens of Humanity Jeans, one for $7 (like new!) and one for $3.99 (a little worn). One day I will be as good as you. Actually though, probably not. You have mad skillz ;)

That skirt is absolutely amazing!

My favorite thrift find this year was an amazing black vintage lace mini dress. It is seriously the most flattering thing I have ever put on my body. I got curious and searched for it on e-bay, and found the same dress going for $150. I just about died because I got it for $5. I haven't actually worn it yet; waiting for a perfectly special occasion. After that, I'll probably never take it off.

That skirt is pretty amazing.

Hmmm, my favorite thrift find of 2011 would have to be our new (to me) antique coffee table. It has claw feet and a leather top.

Have a great NYE!

My fave thrift finds this year is a tie between my high waisted sailor pants (NWT for crying out loud) and red wool Pendleton pencil skirt.

Best to you in 2012 Jentine. I love your blog and can't wait to see how it progresses in the coming year.

the skirt IS an amazing find. I thrifted my entire wardrobe, to include shoes, for the entire year...and the most fabulous find was the mother-of-the-bride dress I wore to my youngest daughter's wedding. Not matronly at all.

Wow, whenever I come to this blog I want to tell you how jealous I am of the amazing thrift shops you must have over there in the US. And that skirt looks like the jackpot of thrifting. I remember similar skirts and dresses from runway pictures on style.com a few years ago.
Happy New Year!

My best thrift store find this year was an amazing skirt in a pattern made up of Asian food and takeout boxes. The two friends who were thrifting with me both called dibs if it didn't fit. Luckily for me (but not so much for them) it did!

This is probably one of my favorite posts on any blog! I love thrifting, especially finding that special item. My favorite thrifted find EVA is a red cord boys blazer found about 8 years ago. I actually almost had a break down in college when I thought I lost it at a party. Safe to say I found my blazer, but my thrifted pieces are closet faves.

That is indeed a killer skirt - love how va-va-voom you look in it!

My best thrifting find...oh gosh, how to choose! I have so many. Probably it's a toss-up between my turquoise suede fringed skirt ($10) and my brand-new 70s motorcycle boots ($20) that look just like Frye boots.

That skirt is amazing! I have a DVF vintage shirt, but the skirt wins that contest. I think my best thrift this year was a Michael Kors silk skirt. Made in Italy...lovely!

I do agree, this skirt is utter perfection! My best thrift find of the year has to be my vintage cape! I adore it, it has the perfect length and was super cheap for the quality. You can see it here

Gah! I'd be bragging about that skirt until the cows came home. And I don't live on a farm, so that would be a LONG TIME.

That skirt fits like it was made for you! Technically, my best thrift find isn't really thrifted, but I got a velvet fishtail floor-length skirt by Lanvin for $20 from Filene's Basement. Pretty sure I'll never, ever top that find!

I'm not much of a thrifter- our charity shops kinda suck in the UK- but when I lived in the States I got the cutest navy blue blazer that I love. Okay, it's a little boy's one and I can't move my arms, but the fit is perfect!
Congrats on that Donna Karan skirt- it is divine!

I must say I love your blog. I used to thrift in college and didn't get back into thrifting until recently. My favorite purchase I thrifted in 2011 was a pair of Minnetonka boots for $5.99. I was ecstatic.

I'd say my best thrift find of 2011 was a $25 vintage YSL coat that I found on ebay. It is turquoise and impeccably made - so beautiful! And a ridiculously great deal
