This Week I Thrifted...

giftthrift1thriftgift2

Dress? Thrifted Necklace? Gift from my Mama
What? Porridge dress with a jersey top and a contrasting silk skirt.
Where? Talize
How much? Shhhh... secret, I gave it as a gift
Why? I am trying to be more conscientious about giving thrifted gifts... as long as the recipient is cool with the idea. The problem with gifting thrift is that it takes planning and I tend to be the last minute type when it comes to gifts. I am getting better at planning ahead because friends can only feign gratefulness at tabloid magazines and Mars bars as birthday gifts for so many years. That said, I am a fan of trashy magazines and chocolate bars so I would appreciate either...
I gave this dress to a friend as part of her birthday gift last week. It was a good find because it was brand new, it had a pretty, pocketed silk skirt and a big, sassy sash. I knew my friend would love the pattern mix and style of the dress. I did a little internet sleuthing (2 minutes, hardly sleuthing...) and I found that the dress was originally $150 at Anthropologie. $150 would buy a lot of magazines and chocolate bars, just saying...

What did you thrift this week?

Amazing find! Really cool mix of patterns. I had a successful Goodwill trip today; snagged a silk JCrew dress and a fun sweater!

Cute! I love the mixed patterns. Your friend is lucky to have you.

I had quite a leisurely afternoon at the thrift store today myself. I got a lot of great things, but I'm most excited about the two(!) vintage wool Pendleton blazers I found.

I have that very dress and I adore it! I got it on sale at Anthropologie for $20, so not quite thrifted, but luckily not $150. That's crazy talk!

You're such a good friend to give such a fabulous gift. There should be more people like you in the world...or at least in mine. :)

I love it! And extra kudos to you for giving it away. I'd have it wrapped up, then be all "oh, she won't like it...I'll just hang on to it for a bit"

I love that necklace! This week I thrifted two fantastic coats: one LOFT navy blue trench with white contrast stitching, and a vintage grey wool coat with faux fur collar and hem. And a couple jewelry boxes to repaint. And a frying pan. And a candle holder. Oh, and a couple sweet necklaces to "Frankenstein"

This week I thrifted a pair of Tory Burch Reva flats in tangerine... so cute! and 4.99, gently used vs. $100+ on sale!!! http://pinterest.com/pin/82753711872574434/

These will be great in the spring... Especially since Pantone just announced Tangerine as the color of 2012.

All I hope your friend was blown away with it because it's fabulous! What a stunning gift to receive.

Sadly I've done no thrifting at all this week, in fact I've not brought anything this week at all!

I thrifted 2 dresses, a silk skirt for spring, a purse and 2 wooden soldiers. Yes, wooden soldiers.

Your lucky friend. I always hesitate to reveal that I thrifted something unless I know for a fact the person will be ok with it. Thing is, even if the item didn't cost much, it still takes a lot of time to get out there and mine for gold!

This weekend I thrifted a fab embroidered belt for $1, and for 25 cents apiece -- several vintage wooden hangers that have the names of various hotels printed on the wood. I'm amassing quite a collection of these hangers - I pick them up at estate sales, and they do service in my coat closet.

Yes, I was going to say Porridge? that's an Anthropologie brand. Wow, I can't believe you thrifted this dress. Great find! I need to go to this Talize place next time I'm in Hamilton.

This is such a great outfit!! I wish there was a Talize around where I lived. I admire you for thrift-gifting, but you have a certain knack for finding great things so I'm sure your gifts are fabulous.
