Holiday Musings

Jeans? Calvin Klein Outlet Turtleneck? h&m Sequin shirt? Thrifted Cuffs? Auction
Boots? Ash, Winners

I wore this last weekend to a holiday party with some of my oldest friends. And by oldest friends, I mean, friends I have had a long time, not friends advanced in years... Though I have those too! True fact, old ladies love me... these cheeks get pinched a lot. Not that I am bragging...
I've been friends with the one girl at the party since Grade 1. I might have mentioned it before but, I moved to Canada that year, knowing 6 English words, so it was natural I befriended the only other girl in my class who understood dutch. And then, when I learned 57 more English words, I stole her best friend. And we've been friends since...
I know holiday parties are simply a chance to wear shiny things, drink eggnog (sidenote: I used to think it was delicious but now I can't handle it... you?) and eat a whole lot of unhealthy but I can't help but turn a little sentimental. I don't see these girls as much as I used to, they are all extremely busy mothers and I am busy teaching my cats synchronized swimming routines and it's so nice to see everyone again. I wore a lot of bridesmaids dresses back in my day for these ladies and now some of them have 3 kids already! My mind blasts but my heart is full. We've been blessed.

I love this outfit. Also, please wear these pants more. I need more inspiration for my red pants... and yes I know there is a lot out there already. But I like your inspiration the best. Maybe its the sequins.

Also, I wish that I had friendships that lasted that long. That is really awesome and something to cherish.

And eggnog is gross and always has been.

The end.

I think it's neat you've remained friends. I moved around so much as a kid it was hard to form lasting friendships. But I've held on to my college friendships like a mofo.

Eggnogg - only good in coffee. Also, no, ESPECIALLY, when it's spiked. :)

You have the best collection of sequin-covered clothing. I am jealous of you for that fact! I am not a fan of eggnog, but every few years, I give it another sip to see if I've changed my mind and so, far I have not. I've been informed I need to try my boyfriend's grandfather's eggnog recipe, but the occasion hasn't arisen yet, so I am still anti-eggnogg.

Thanks for the inspiration. I've got two holiday parties this weekend and I'm still trying to figure out what to wear! I definitely need to work my red denim into this weekend. You're awesome!!!

I love the sequined top! I am always scanning the thrifting racks for sequined finery, but haven't yet come up from the depths of discoloured black, pilled sweaters, and belly tops with a true all-hail sequined find.

Your stories are the best, Yen.

Also the best, as far as holiday drinks are concerned, is eggnog (in my humble opinion). I like to tone mine down with milk. It's also great in milkshakes.

Always fun to wear sequins! (Holidays or not!) And I've never 'done' eggnog...just the name itself makes me want to gag!
