Stripes and Dots

bee1bee2bee4bee8

Sweater? Gap (online here, but way more than I paid) Shirt? Brinn and Em, Winners Skirt? Loft, thrifted Shoes? I.D. Browns Cowhide clutch? Thrifted Necklaces? Thrifted

This sweater seems to photograph more as a yellow than neon. But it's more 90's than bumble bee, I promise.
I'm glad neon is back... The last time I wanted neon clothes, I was 6 years old and we had just immigrated to Canada. I had a bowl cut, I wore my brothers' sturdy leather, hand-me-down sandals and I would have been OK with all of that... if only my mom had let me wear some awesome neon bicycle shorts too. But she didn't. And I survived and I even made friends, friends that stuck around even when I added giant pink glasses to the bowl cut and sturdy footwear in Grade 2.
I think it was a bit of latent rebellion that drew me to the neon striped sweater at Gap this weekend. Or it was the fact that all clearance items were an extra 50% off...making this sweater $16. I make my life decisions based on teenage rebellion and sale racks.

Too Funny! I thrifted the same skirt not long ago! I'm going to have to try pairing mine with a bright shirt! Looks great :) Here's my take: http://cornflakesandcoffee.blogspot.com/2011/10/polka-dot-tulip.html

THis totally looks bumble but I'll believe you when you say neon.

Love how you put this together and your new necklaces look AWESOME.

PS - about those necklaces, holy crap did you ever score well in GR!! Well done, my friend, well done.

HOLY smokes, I love everything about this outfit! One of my favorites of yours ever! So good on all levels! Neon didn't make elementary school all that much easier, so don't worry about missing out. Even my black shiny skin tight bicycle pants with the neon pink stripe down the side didn't cover up my buck teeth and mushroom cut that grew into a mullet.

In fourth grade everyone had Umbros. We couldn't afford them, but I was able to get them a la birthday present and they were neon pink. That was one of the best bday presents ever.

Loving the bright color and the stripes/polka dot mixing here. Well done.

SO funny--I bought the very same sweater this weekend on sale. After putting it on later, I excitedly squealed, "Do you like my new sweaterrrr?!" at my boyfriend, whose response was, "Are you going to be a bumblebee for Halloween?"

I agree with YOU. The neon color is far too amazing and not bumblebee-like at all! I loved seeing how you styled this--I hadn't thought about pairing it with polka-dots, but it totally works. Adding to my inspiration folder!

How are you so bloody gorgeous? It's just not fair to the rest of us, woman! Hot and rebellious, too? You're basically a girl James Dean. I think ol' JD would've looked pretty rad in neon stripes and polka dots, too. :)

I get that in the first photo you are probably just laying your arms up on the seat behind you, but I prefer to think of that pose as catching you in the middle of laying down some serious gangsta rap. About bumblebees. HEY-AY. HO-OH.
