In the 80's They Called This Soft Focus

Skirt? A.B.S. Allen Schwartz
Shirt? Gap
Jacket? Zara
Tights? Winners
Boots? Charles David, thrifted
Belt? Thrifted
Another mishmash of my favourite things, ... reminds me of this outfit but this time around I added sweater tights. Who invented sweater tights? Someone smart... probably Canadian... after all, we brought the world the telephone and then Celine Dion... and warm tights just seems like the next logical Canadian invention.

We had a few precious minutes to catch some outfit shots before the sun set for yet another short autumn day. And then we got stopped in the parking lot by an aquaintance and before I knew it, we were having the whole 'let's discuss all that happened to you in 2010 and reminisce fondly about 2009 while we are at it' talk and I was desperately trying to be polite, while anxiously glancing at the sun sliding further away. And I watched that sun fade and I stayed to talk because he was a really nice guy and I can't blow off real life for blogging (at least not too much). I wanted to show crisp detail but nevertheless the pictures still turned out pretty moody and cool... once again we threw on the high beams of the vehicle and used every light particle remaining to get what we could. I just hope if you ever see me strut on by with purpose in my eye... don't stop me to chat. I'm chasing that sun.

Oh man. My sister is Canadian and would love to hear that Canadians have invented all the important things in life.
I love the new look of the blog. What a great catch phrase to express the duality of your life and style.

Sometimes "soft focus" is good...life on bad makeup days. Here, it's just cool. The last picture made me look twice. That skirt is awesome.

A few things I must say:

1. I love the new look of your blog and the header is cool. Perfectly sums you up.

2. I love that you do shoots using the headlights. Will totally have to try this one day.

3. That skirt is amazing. I love it paired with the casual layers.

LOVE this! I've been so badly pining for a gold brocade skirt and/or pants. Can you believe I can't find anything ANYWHERE?! This place is bull shit.

But, seriously, I love you :)

I need to get me some sweater tights! Minnesota is not kind to legs in the winter!

Linda W keeps freaking me out because I keep thinking its me, then I realize its not. Linda W, I am also a Linda W!

So first off, your new blog face is chock full of win, and Merl is kinds excellent.

Secondly, these pictures remind me of twilight...I was fully expecting to see a pale ass dude with a tude, and a shirtless wonder with abs of steel fighting over you whilst you posed it out.

I love all the layers in this outfit! Layers, colors, textures...definitely inspirational for me!

OF COURSE IT WAS A CANADIAN! I don't really know. But you are forgetting a major invention by Canada... the BIEBERRRRRRRRR. did I even spell his name right? I have no idea.

Your headlight stories CRACK me up. I can barely get matt to take his lazy butt off the couch to take pictures on our balcony which is 3 steps away from said couch. I do know about the chasing the sun though.
I really wanted to take pictures 2 weekends ago of an outfit for the boyfriend's birthday but that meant I had to be ready before 4:30... (stupid early sunset!) which meant frantic gettign ready just to make daylight. Jeeeez the things we do for blogging!
(p.s. i love the new header and the abundance of leopard on the sidebar!)

I, for one, thank the Canadians greatly for sweater tights then. They save my butt at the office since people here have penguin DNA or something...they like the office to be freezing cold. Ugh.

That said, yay new layout! I really like it and I like the motto. It made me laugh. And I really like the outfit. I have to start busting out my sparkly stuff. I keep waiting for a proper "occasion", but, if I keep waiting, none will seem proper!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

love the new header and the cute little tag line you came up with :) and i hate the limited sunshine for pics too. i either have to do it first thing in the morning where i obviously look exhausted and my hair is funny because i don't brush it, or in the dead middle of the day when things are a lot busier and i'm more likely to be taking pics and seeing a friend out and about and having to stop and talk to them about everything that's going on with me and then i'd be trying to blow them off....you know how it is.

I'm echoing Maggie--got to get some more winter tights. In Minnesota, it's about to start snowing all day. Thank goodness holiday plans include other people coming to us. I'll get to wear that miniskirt and lovely sweater despite the weather.

As others have said, your skirt is fabulous. I'm also taken with the blue of your bag. A perfect happiness blue. A jewel blue. I've been lusting for this color lately... it's getting under my skin.

I always marvel at your ability to mix super-casual and super-dressy pieces so effortlessly.

And if it wasn't a Canadian who invented sweater tights, it just might've been a Minnesotan.

WHOAAAA!! Check you out! Lovin' the new layout and header and EVERYTHING!! Nicely done!!

All this time, I've been thinking your name was JEN-teeeen and now to discover you're like a totally different person! Well thank GAWD you cleared that one up - yeesh. I'm embarassed FOR myself.

The last pic is soo cool, and I hear you about the sun setting so early and rushing to get the pictures - not an easy feat, for sure.

What a beautiful spot for pictures. It's really hard to take pictures this time of year, but when the light is good it's REALLY good.
