Jersey skirt? Vintage and thrifted
Sweater? Thrifted
Belt? Roots, thrifted
Shoes? Derek Lam, Holt Renfrew Last Call
Purse? ?, Winners
Necklace? h&m (old...)

When I wore this outfit to church a couple little girls told me they liked my outfit. Always believe little girls... They haven't been influenced by Vogue, by fashion blogger's pattern mixing or by Modcloth*... if it looks nice, they like it. Simple.
A few years ago, I went all out and bought some yellow pumps from Aldo full price. I thought they were the ish (I don't really talk like that... I'm just running out of words). They had huge spiky heels, an elongated pointy toe and faux crocodile embossed leather. I told you... the ish. And I was hot stuff in those pumps... until I overheard a little kid ask their dad why I had bananas on my feet. So I got defensive and got in the child's face and yelled 'Why don't you make like a banana and split?' and then the dad got involved and soon we were wrestling on the church parking lot. Orrrrr.... I actually just looked down at my size 10 feet encased in these huge yellow pumps and I thought 'Child, you are right, these are ugly shoes.' And I never really wore them again. That was not peer pressure, it was just the truth.

*Granted, some may be influenced by those scary Bratz dolls.

Dude, that skirt is the ish, lol. I love love love that bright orange-red color, a lot of people don't go for it, but its really flattering! And the whole outfit it really feminine :)

I love your necklace!
Also, were these photos shot near Mac? I always try to guess where in and around Hamilton your photos were taken. My favourite is still the place with the giant dinosaurs. :)

Love the colour, length and lines of the skirt, and the fluffy-as jersey!

Can I live in your closet? I promise to take good care of your shoes, and you would only have to feed me cupcakes. God that sounded less sketchy in my head..

I love every bit of this outfit, but I seriously cannot believe how gorgeous that necklace is. I thought at first you fashioned it together with some real leaves :)

I take care of a 2 year old and that little punk is a truth teller if I ever I knew one (and I really only know one and she's it, which may mean I have a small sample size OR may mean that she's a gift from the gods and therefore should be treated like the oracle she is). Said 2 year old generally compliments my clothes but, like your anti-foot fruit girl, does sometimes help me see the error of my ways. Thanks goodness for small people w big opinions. Maybe if she gets those psycho looking Bratz things I'll stop listening to her. But I'd probably quite my job then, too.

This outfit is the ISH. No joke. I don't really know what that means, but I think it means you look like a badass queen of fall. If it doesn't, pretend it does, because you do. Was that hard to understand? I'd be more comprehensible if I were a ruthless 5 year old.

OMG that happens to me every once and a while; i'll think I have an amazing piece and then I realize how stupid it is! And it always happens when you're away from home and can't change so you feel silly all day. HAHA, thanks for sharing.

that banana story is hysterical! it's weird when you encounter someone saying something nasty about you as an adult. i had a similar run in with my little cousin who told me i looked ugly with my glasses on and even uglier with them off! i told him that he was the ugliest thing i had ever seen and vowed to leave a dead fish on his doorstep if he ever crossed me again. hahaha.as you can see, i am clearly not over it.

Oh man, it's rough when kids tell it to you straight. And it's hard to wear a pointy toed shoe in this world and not be likened to a witch. It's also hard to wear a red shoe and not be called dororthy. But red shoes are awesome, and worth putting up with the cracks.

I think you should take the ish out of the closet and see how it makes you feel. No judging.

out of the mouth of babes!

I want to see the ish shoes though.

I really like the skirt and the necklace here.

I live by Bratz doll's style philosophy. Mostly because my head is so much larger than the rest of my body that it's hard to find inspiration for tops with really large neck openings.

I would have loved your banana shoes, but I like that skirt more. Let's meet up soon and then you can give it to me. LYLAS.

This is such a wonderful and charming outfit. I normally scream in disgust at the color orange, but well done! It's perfect for this season. I'm so jealous about how much of this outfit is thrifted. I don't know how you find this stuff.

The red skirt is such a great color, the perfect shade of red for fall. Now about those "banana" shoes, I definitely think you should wear them for an outfit post soon! I want to see them! :)

You do look great in this outfit! I would have loved to see a photo of the banana shoes :)

Lovely! That orange skirt is majorly fantastic.

Maybe I'll start asking little girls what they think of my outfit. Impartial, and insightful, observers.

I love this orange skirt.

Also, I have the boot version of those Aldo bananas. My coworkers call me "Big Bird" when I wear them.

I don't know about your banana shoes, but THESE shoes are AMAZING! I love the bright skirt for fall too!

Kid truths can be so rough.

You are so gorgeous in this. I always wish I could do the fuzzy-sweater-tucked-in thing, but somehow I end up feeling like a muppett.

That's hilarious about the banana feet!! I love this outfit too. You are so pretty.

I love this! especially the skirt! By any chance, is this up at the park by Mountain Avenue? Those stairs are mighty familiar as I've gone through that park a few times to get to the Bruce Trail from downtown :)

I can't believe that necklace is from H&M. It's honestly perfect for right now. Not to mention so appropriate for Canadia.

I completely agree with you about the comments of little girls (I think elderly women fall into that category too.) They are always sincere. So cute. - Katy

Now I guess you have to pop those banana shoes in a post (crowd cheering in the back !)
I have 2 kids and they always tell me the truth even when it hurts : I wore a red pin-up-girl lipstick ONCE (they ended up roaring with laughter on the carpet in the living room....)See they even didn't have to speak (must be the incredible link mother-children, I understood immediately!). Motherhood made me all patience and forgiveness, so I still feed them...
