Another Inch of Stripes

I really wanted to find a good spot to take pictures today. This blog has inadvertently made me fall in love with my city and part of the fun is discovering new places to take outfit pics. Also, Kendi had some amazing pictures recently and I totally wanted to find some spools to pose with so I could be just. like. her. No spools for me though... we tried a few spots (all close, don't worry, no diva fits here) and ended up at a cool bridge with potential and a few preteens sneaking away for a cigarette. Is this good opportunity to lecture about the evils of smoking and about keeping kids on leashes? No? Ok... unto fashion I say...

Dress? Lida Baday, thrifted
Jacket? Braemar, thrifted
Purse? thrifted
Sunglasses? thrifted
Shoes? Vince Camuto, Winners
Peony pin? h&m

This maxi dress may still be the best $6 I've spent... I could have had a vendi, mocha, choca, low-fat macchiatto (no idea what I'm talking about, I don't drink coffee) but instead I invested in this dress. Last time I wore this dress in Paris (just another day in my life...), the hem got completely torn out. So when I fixed, I rearranged the side slits and gave myself another inch of length. Not like it really needed it, this dress is actually long enough for me but I got greedy and wanted that extra length so I could wear heels with it and still have the dress almost touch the floor. As a tall kid, it's a novel feeling to trip over your hem, kinda dangerous too but that's just life on the edge.
And I'm totally digging your grandmother's sunglasses that I picked up at Value Village. Tell her I say thanks. We had a scavenger hunt/ Amazing Race competition this weekend and one of the challenges was to pick up something at Value Village to take along with us for the rest of the competition. I was hoping to pick up a tie for Matt but the sunglasses were closer and the clock was ticking (and these were awesome too) so we went for them instead. Not only did I end up with these bad boys, we also won the whole thing. Go Team #4! Say my name. Which, for the sake of my new-ish readers, is pronounced Yen-tina....

I've always loved this dress on you, and it's so great the way you styled it this go-around. Those shoes are fantastic too. And I love the bridge photos too!

Basically, this comment ended up being a mushy love letter to you, but your latest outfits have been rockin it. :)

LOVE this! I never feel I can rock long dresses, but maybe with a blazer? Will have to give it a try. You look great---the stripes + flower are lovely.

Yen, I am in love with this mostly thrifted outfit. The stripes, the flower pin, the blazer, the glasses!

Lovely! You look SO sophisticated! I love that most of your outfit is thrifted. I'm really liking the long dress with the blazer on top. It dresses up something that could be very casual otherwise. :)

I know all about the being tall and wishing you could trip over the hem of your dress. I would have done the same thing!

Oh, and by the way, I love the outfit. The dress, the blazer, the flower, the grandma sunglasses. Everything!

Two words. Class. and Y. Classy. Elegant. Top shelf. Expensive. And etc. That's a lot of words but you are looking 100% rich and gorgeous in this, my blonde friend! I'm drooling!

I don't know about my grandma, but those could very well be my Great Aunt Margret's sunglasses. She had a pair just like them, and she does live in your neck o' the woods.

Do you suddenly find yourself able to make the world's best shortbread when you put them on? And have a cute Scottish accent?

Love the look and the tour of the city.

As noted above, this outfit is awesome. I'm inspired to try a maxi-dress & jacket combo for work (as soon as things warm up more in my new city.)

And your elegant pictures make me miss the Hammer. Sweet Steeltown, how I miss your often-dodgy-but-never-boring aesthetic!

Most importantly, however, I now know who to blame for my Grandma's giant new old-gal wrap-arounds. (You know, she just dropped those glasses and they were gone when we went back to check. . . )

ok those sunglasses!

What is it about stripes? I just did a post on my very serious life long addiction. They’re just irresistible.

Terrific outfit! The blazer and shades with the lovely brown accessories give the dress a really chic look, which is a nice new take on the maxi instead of the predicatable 'boho' styling. Very inspiring!

You look amazing! I love the dress and totally agree with you about the length addiction. But I'm really short so I end up having to take off inches just to get to that dangerous tripping you length! The stripes, the bridge, the blazer and flower: PERFECTION!

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.

and stop making me gasp every time you post a new amazing outfit. The cats are starting to look at me sideways.. I'm IN FREAKING LOVE with this outfit. I've been on a mad hunt for a maxi dress that I can wear with heels.. Why the hell can't a midget like me find one, when a glamazon like you did?! Fate you can suck a big fat one.

ps.. the word verification I had to type in? naiked. you're such a perv.

This is a wonderful outfit. Love the stripes and the really fantastic heels! I really like that the dress is a fun, more inventive iteration of the nautical trend.

I also like that you made up random coffee names. As a non-coffee drinker myself, I'm always smashing together coffee sounding things and cracking myself up. Love it! I mean, really, who'd choose an Americano latte frappuchino schmapachino thing over a dress, anyway?! :)

Looks good.
P.s. You matched your bag to your shoes...my mom would be proud.
