90's Heartthrobs

gucci1gucci4gucci6gucci5gucci2

Pants? Gucci, Holt Renfrew Last Call Silk shirt? Thrifted Clutch? Likely thrifted Shoes? Ralph Lauren, DSW

I'm worried that I might actually enjoy worrying. I do it all the time. I wake Matt up at 1:32 a.m., worried that we haven't paid a bill. I leave the house and I worry that I left my straightening iron on. But mostly I worry that fashion blogging is going to kill the bright pants trend too quickly. And that would be a shame because I splurged for these Gucci pants, paying $70 for them last fall (at almost 94% off...) and it hasn't been until now that they fit comfortably.

Here in Hamilton (Ontario, Canada...), I have seen one girl wear a pair of bright pants and it was just last weekend. Yet I feel like I have seen them much more because they are everywhere in the alternate universe that is fashion blogging. And you know what happens when there is too much of a good thing. Just look at cupcakes and Justin Beiber... they got replaced by macaroons and Andrew Keegan. Right?

Ha... raise your hand if you grew up loving Andrew Keegan too. Now raise both hands if you think that that coloured pants should not just be a trend but a permanent treatment to wardrobe boredom. If you are over bright pants, just raise your other hand for Jonathan Taylor Thomas instead. It's OK... he was cute. Not as cute as my blue pants though.

I want bright pants to stick around, too. I love my red jeans and I've been looking for a pair of cropped pink pants. But perfectly cropped. And not too light pink. And cheap, er, inexpensive. Yep, stilllll looking.

Those pants are worth $70 and not because of the label. They look amazing.

Oh, Jentine! I seriously want bright green pants. I'm having a bit of a green moment.

I am a tad older than you, I think. I grew up with pictures of River Phoenix taped to my locker door. Ahhh, River.

oh my goodness, not only are you pretty and fashionable but you are so darn funny!

Jentine, just keep wearing them all the time because they are fabulous. Maybe the real world will finally catch up to the alternate, more awesome world of fashion blogging.

I thought Andrew Keegan was cute but he played some macho jerk roles in the movies sometimes (maybe I am thinking he is his 10 Things I Hate About You character in real life). I had a serious crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt all through the 90s. :) Even better that he is in some bigger roles now so I can rediscover my pre-teen angst...

OMG, JTT was my first crush. :D Well, ok, my first first crush was Michael J. Fox, but first crush in my relative age group was Jonathan Taylor Thomas. So cute.

And, I totally raise both my hands. Wear them pants loud and proud.

I wrote JTT a love letter when I was like 12. He never wrote back. So, I say your bright pants win in my book. ;-) Love this outfit!

Loved JTT and was just talking to my friend the other day about Andrew Keegan. 10 things I hate about you? Come on! Love it. I'll talk to you about late 90's/early 2000's heartthrobs anytime :)

i love the bright bold pants. wish i could pull them off!

I think I'll still be sporting my fuschia and red pairs no matter if they stay in style or not. Nothing cures the wardrobe boreds like a bright pair of skinnies!

I avidly support the bright pant trend and am ever so slightly jealous of your Gucci score!

I would have been borderline pedophile if I had crushed on JTT or Andrew Keegan.
I had the hots for Kirk Cameron.
And Corey Haim.
Those were the days.
I actually wish I had an old issue of Tiger Beat magazine in my hands right now....

Amazing colors!

I worry way too much as well. It's giving me a few gray hairs that I am NOT happy about! But your pants are fabulous, I think you can still wear them when they are not a trend anymore!

I love colours!

Andrew Keegan and JTT!!! Swoon! All of us mid to late 20ers know what you're sayin'. Every month I'd head to our local bookstore and pick out my favorite magazine with Andrew Keegan on the cover and clutch it under my coat (as if it was porn) then head to the register. I was 11 or 12...lol.

I think your bright pants are hear to stay. They are sliming, colorful, and just awesome pants.

You're hilarious! I surely hope the trend lasts longer than this season, perhaps they'll be like skinny jeans? (I've been missing out since I'm pregnant.) I LOVE these pants on you, and the color blocking is FAB!

Is it bad that I don't know who Andrew Keegan is? ;)

I adore the bright pants/color blocking trend. Haven't tried it myself yet though. You look fantastic - those colors really work on you!

My 90s crush was Elijah Wood ;)

I also worry that I am going to leave the flat iron on. I check it about 70 times before I leave the house to make sure its unplugged.

Looks like you are done taking photos in front of other people's houses, huh? At least for a while. :) Cute outfit! I love my bright blue pants that I got at the clothing swap in Austin. And I still love JTT. You never forget your first love.

I had red pants i thrifted last spring. then at the end of the day i looked like i had a diaper on. i donated them to my sister. let her feel like she's wearing a diaper at 5 pm.

Love the color combo, love the trend as well. I have found a couple pair of bright pants but never in my size, oh bother! It's likely I won't find them until this is already "out of trend". So I guess I'll be wearing monochrome into fall and winter...

Man of the House with Chevy Chase, Farrah Fawcett and JTT - I'M JUST SAYIN'!

WOW. 94% off??? You did good. Love the colorblocking!

II officially love you for bringing JTT to the front of my mind. Hello childhood dream lover! I'm also in full support of the bright pants movement! I only just got my first pair...they can't go away until I get a great coral pair...or bright pink...maybe purple! Ok, enough of my rambling.

Still have a pair of yellow jeans somewhere...

Speaking of worrying, when the first photo came up I worried you were standing at the edge of a filthy, radioactive swamp. It served its purpose though, it got my attention even before the pants.

Your colored pants are 100X's cuter than JTT. Love 'em girl!

love pink and blue together.. and boy this brings back memories from way back.. the days where I wore these bright colors in highschool.

and look the backdrop.. reminds me of the kind of place we would all gather on friday nights and sit on the tailgate of the truck and drink beer... shudder... thank goodness that was a long time ago. Of course Now I am much more sophisticated than that.. hah hah

Against JTT your blue pants totally take it (I was Andrew Keegan lover all the way!) I like the bright pants trend and you look great in yours!

I love the bright pants and they should definitely stick around. The thing I'm not liking though that EVERYONE in fashion blogdom is wearing is the front of their shirts tucked in and the back out. I realize that's what you're doing here, and I don't mean to offend. Maybe I'm jealous because my pouch is too big for it to work on me.

Lisa - Archives Vintage said...

i hope it sticks around! i want a pair of bright pink or green pants! i'd better get on finding them so im not late to the blogger bright pants party before its over!
