Dress? Vintage Diane von Furstenberg, thrifted (it's a good story I will share sometime...)
Boots? La Baccarina, Holt Renfrew Last Call
Belt? Michael Kors, Winners
Pictures? by Paul from photo.280DG

One of my greatest pet peeves is when people don't edit down their Facebook albums. I know I am creeping on your vacation pics but I don't want to see 46 pictures of clouds. In fact, my cloud tolerance currently sits at 2 pictures. And yet, as time goes on, the number of pictures per posts on this blog creeeeeps up slowly... I started with a modest 1 photo per post and today we hit 8 pictures plus a bonus shot of Matt. I try to keep most posts at 6 pictures (still a lot...me, me,me)... shots of the whole outfit, some details and a good glimpse of the background... but when you've got a real photographer taking your pics, you go over board.

If I had known 9 years ago when I started dating Matt that I would be wasting over two years taking outfit posts, I might not have allowed myself the distraction of his blue, blue eyes and dimples... I certainly would not have told my friend that I thought Matt was cute, knowing full-well she would tell her brother, who would tell Matt...his roommate. And I wouldn't have started dating him; I would never have known how sweet and funny he was... because I would have been too busy looking for a photographer/husband. But that's not how our story goes... So, I did the next best thing, if I didn't marry a photographer, I would make sure my university bestie did.

This weekend we had them over for dinner and the husband, Paul volunteered to take my outfit pics. I said 'ok' (though I was a bit shy because I am used to posing my face off for Matt...) and Matt asked him to move in. Matt loved this new deal...

In exchange for Paul's photography, we gave Paul and Linda a 'we love our city so much, we wanna show-off' tour of Hamilton and fed them some burnt meat balls. You see, we got a little carried away on the tour... wanting to show more and more of the downtown, we even saw these (how cool!) and I forgot that I had turned the meatballs up to high in the slow cooker... But if you are in the GTA and you need a photographer who takes great shots and tolerates overcooked food... there's photo.280DG...

The first and last photo in this blog set are really amazing. I love the contrast between the leopard print/Blue dress/Red door!

I've been having my bf (also named Matt!) take my photos, he's getting better and better so far. But, we have yet to venture outside much to take them...

When Colleen took my pictures a couple times...it's just SO FUN. These are great. I'm not sure how many is too many pics for me on a fashion blog...but this isn't it. <3

The colors in these pics are great. I really love how the leopard print belt pops against the blue. Would love to hear the about the DVF. I've been on the hunt for a thrifted one for years, but no luck yet.

That dress is amazing. I'd love to hear the acquisition story! You are very brave/committed to pose in the freezing cold like that. Good on ya!

these are such gorgeous photographs--the blue dress pops so well against the red door.
and the red lipstick and the leopard belt...swoon swoon swoon.

No offense to Matt, but you look AMAZING in these, lady. Aaaaahhhmazing. And just check out those glorious BOOTS!

These do look gorgeous as do you! I think your hubby does a good job normally too, though. When my hubby takes outfit pics they're unusable due to the mortified laughing pics. To get me in the picture-taking "mood" he puts on his best blue-steel sexy face. OH. GAWD. STOP. I'm giggling like an idiot just typing it.

Beautiful photos (my favorite is the squat!), but it is your hairdo that has captured my attention.

What a great shoot! I totally know what you mean about photo creep though - some days you have so many good ones, it's hard to edit. Others.... maybe that outfit wasn't so important to blog after all.

I'm totally envious of your great designer thrift finds - every once in a while I'll stumble on some great designer piece, but it's a lock that it will never be even close to my size. Nine times out of ten though, I just find myself sifting through cheap synthetics from mall stores. I think the area I've been thrifting just doesn't have enough income to make for many good donations. Do you find yourself scouting shops by location in terms of economics?

These shots are so vivid and beautiful, the contrast between your blue dress and that deep red door... Enough said.
I also am peeved by unedited Facebook albums. Clouds don't bother me so much, but albums of vacations were most pics were taken in dark bars, the same drunken faces up close over and over again... (I wanted to see what Hamburg was like! not the bars in Hamburg).

Eee! These pictures are fabulous and I really like that color combination. It looks really great against the red, but I think my favorite is the one against the open arch. And when the pictures are like this, this is not too many pictures.

The colors are so vibrant! Great photos and a fabulous outfit...how could you tire of that!? =) I try to maintain the number of photos as well..but then we take 50 photos and sometimes I can barely find one that I like?! So guess it's not that difficult?!

I don't like animal prints. They almost always seem tacky. But this outfit is soooo beyond amazing!! The leopard belt just shines on top of that blue dress! And the red lips/background add another layer! And then those heels :) Makes me want to sing! Hope you're having a great day!

Ummmm Am I a bad person if I constantly look at my boyfriend and wonder why they heck he didn't pick up photography instead of some geography soemthing something in University!? I've taught him that he can't take a picture and then move tha camera halfway through... I've told him that pushing the button down halfway to focus first helps... but this seems to be the extent of his tolerance for my control freakism. This is why I bought a remote and tripod motnhs ago. It's not the same tho, I can't smile at my tripod and laugh at his stupidity (of couse it's a HE, it's a TRIpod... 3 legs... come one now)

Back to you... these pictures are GORGEOUS. and YOU look gorgeous. and flawless. Do a lot of girls hate you for being so pretty, funny and cool? no? ok good... i don't either... uhhh what?

Oh and did i mention ive turned into a huge pussy (pardon my crudeness) and I can't get undressed outdoors for photos.
So right now, u can see how i loook bundled up like a 5 year old sliding (umm on a garbage bag)

You *must* tell the story of the DVF dress sometimes!

This is one of my favorite outfits I've seen you post, the colors are perfect!!

I love how your discomfort with a non-Matt photographer translates into so much adorable smileyness. Shyness (and red lipstick...and bright blue dresses) looks crazy good on you!

I am new to your blog and absolutely loving it!!

I did marry a photographer, and I'm actually pretty nifty with a camera myself, but you would never know it from my blog pictures because neither of us seem to ever have the time to dedicate to getting decent shots. Maybe that should be one of my new year resolutions... better photographs for my blog.

I love the color of your dress and how you mixed it w/ the belt. So cute!

Yep well done! Perhaps more visits to Hamilton and Bradford are in order for more outfit photos via photo.280dg? Methinks.
my favorite? The boots with the delicate bits of snow on it, cause your thighs are rockin and so are those boots!

You live in hamilton! I live in hamilton! This is madness! I love hamilton! You appear to love hamilton! Simply by living in hamilton, you have gained a reader out of me. Huh.

SWF_Terra said...

Oh, when a good photographer snaps your shots, whittling the post down becomes infinitely harder. Mmm hmm.

Also, THANK YOU. I have said this a million times about Facebook pictures. You don't have to post every picture people. Those shitty, fuzzy shots? Or how about those ones you decided not to rotate? Yeah, if you don't take the time to upload and edit your shots, I'm not wasting my time looking at them with my head cocked.

In other news... you look so lovely.

Meghan said...

Ohmagawww, I have been to so many of these places (don't mind me as I stalk your blog). Where do you thrift in the city? I have about zero time to go anywhere, except occasionally to the Salvation Army on Upper James during lunch. But, perhaps, on exam break, I will go on a thrift mission, seeing as you have had a lot of luck, clearly.
Bah. This is so exciting.

I'm known to overcook my food so burnt meatballs sound delish. :) So I guess I never knew that both of our husband's names are Matt....guess we have that, love of fashion and being Canadian in common.

BTW - Those pics are awesome. Hubby is a keeper and so is his friend that takes great pics.
