Dress? Collective Concepts, Winners
Boots? Cole Haan, thrifted
Belt? Thrifted
Purse? Roots
Necklace? h&m (old, and now unseasonal as it is hardly fall anymore)
Let's discuss Things the Former Home Owners Left in Our House again, shall we? Ha... I say that like you have a choice... when really, even though you may say 'no thank-you, let's discuss deep-fried Mars bars instead', I just do what I want.
A bad thing left behind was a package of rodent killer. I walked into my closet (I won't get tired of saying that for a while) and found an opened package in the middle of the floor. I had a mini heart attack (because I am dramatic and because I love my kitties). Further inspection and a frantic call to my vet tech friend, led us to hypothesize that one of the cats must have found it behind a radiator and not consumed any poison; just played with the package because it made a crinkly noise. Its been a few days and the herd appears fine... still, not cool former owners, not cool.
A good thing left behind was the piano. Like the rowing machine, the piano was not left out of kindness but because a stairway separated the piano from the truck and the stairway taunted the guys moving... We don't mind, Matt and I are always in the search to upgrade our classiness and nothing says klassy like a piano in the corner of a dining room. It's not in tune but neither are Matt and I. If you are fortunate enough to receive a dinner invitation, save your polite applause for my post-dessert rendition of Rachmaninoff.

Aww that's a sweet outfit ;)

That is a beautiful piano!! I can't believe the people just left it! It's probably worth some money...
Umm jealous - I would LOVE a piano!! And that my dear, is a super cute outfit by the way.
I ADORE the print of that dress! And what a cool thing to inherit! (the piano, not the rodent killer)
Your hair looks great like that! Okay, I would freak too if I thought one of my cats ate rat poisin! That piano is so awesome, what a nice treat!
Zounds. This entire outfit looks magazine-worthy. That bag is particularly gorgeous.
And who could say, "no" to a free piano?
I adore that piano - the grain of the wood is fantastic. I keep trying to convince my husband to have us get one.
And the outfit is fantastic, I love every part of it!
Love the leather jacket. Just what I need to see when I'm trying to avoid getting another! :)
Wow, amazing shots/location/chattel. Especially love the jacket/scarf/glove one.
ha ha I guess only the best singing of us are left random pianos. I love this dress.
That dress is so fantastic! I am seriously looking forward to scoping Winners while I'm in TO this next week.
I guess you could have poisoned anyone who didn't appreciate your piano solo....
How come they ABANDONED their piano ??? Lucky you ....
Hair and outfit are fabulous as always !

Frustrating, the piano is very nice but did they just assume you would be happy with it? What if you had a piano of your own destined for that place?
Previous owners of ours left a delapidated dining set, couch, laminated shelf & a shed full of usuless garbage! Not happy! Rant over :)
Are you toying with my heart b/c Rachmaninoff is my FAVE. That's right, I LIVE CLASSY.
And your blues + browns are so fetching!
love your dress and your hair! and i just want you to know that if i am ever lucky enough to have dinner at your lovely home, i WILL be expecting some musical entertainment.
Ooooo, that piano is great!!!! You are so lucky!
Also love your dress :)
Yep, you look freaking fantastic here. And who the hell leaves a piano behind instead of selling it on Kijiji to the first person willing to come and get it?
But you're right: the piano does say instant classiness. Especially when you're next to it in this wicked ensemble.
love the outfit and photoshoot today.. your place looks awesome!! xoxo J
Girl, you make that piano look GOOD! Digging the dress/boots combo and the abandoned piano.
Glad the herd lives. What the heck, former owners?!
What the hell? they left you a piano? I really need to start buying houses. you know what we found in our apartment? a bowl of pennies... not quite a piano and rowing machine but we cashed that sucker in and went to the dollar store...
You are super cute. How are you wearing a leather jacket when im decked out in my winter knee length coat, a scarf and hat. Hmmm unfair.
Love your dress and your boots
Also am loving the styling of your hair.
A piano? Sweeeeeeet!
When we moved into this place we got a sock that someone left in the dryer.
And a toilet bowl full of pee that had been sitting there for a good week or so.
Not cool previous tenants. NOT COOL.
The color of that dress look gorgeous on you, and I love the print!
I would have totally freaked out about the rodent killer, too! I am such a crazy cat lady that when I move, I usually try to work it so that I have a few days of overlap to clean the new place (to rid it of any dangers to my baby, of course!) before I move in.

Oh my gosh, my heart just skipped a beat. We also have two cats and only the thought that they might accidently come across rodent killer makes me shiver. In any case, luckily nothing happened and we can move on to the part with the walk in closet. Anybody, who has one of those is deeply envied by moi. :D I can't wait until the day, when I'll finally be able to walk into my closet - would be even better, if I could make as much out of it as you do. xox, Macs (macsblog.tumblr.com)
Lovely dress, and I so wish the previous tenants had left us a piano. They left a rotten water heater and cans of insecticide that we had to wrestle Genghis (our dog) over. I hope your kitties are okay!
So, in the little town where I grew up, every summer the Lions club (a sort of do-gooder association) would hold an auction in the parking lot of the post office, with proceeds going to do-gooding or something. It was a big deal and EVERYONE showed up to see what was on the block.
One year, there was a piano. And my sister convinced my mom to bid on it. My mother said, "Fine, but I refuse to go over $50 for it." She thought surely there was no way it would sell for less than $50.
It sold for $50. To us. And thank god it had little wheels b/c we only lived two blocks from the post office, so we wheeled the damn thing to our house. It was out-of-tune and we never bothered getting a piano tuner to fix it.
Eventually, it became the Place To Display Pictures, b/c that is what classy people do. They display their photographs atop their pianos.
what a lovely purse! i also like the one u just posted too!
feel free to follow xo
How cool about the piano! And I would be SUPER scared about the poison and my kitties too. Glad they're ok.
You're hair looks gorgeous here!
Your hair is so pretty, and I love your outfit. Those shoes are absolutely divine. Glad your kitties are okay :)
Kristine. Or Polly.
ah, the piano and the boots <3

You look amazing in this. I love the mix of blues. Glad the kitties are OK.
That dress is beautiful! And I love that statement necklace - what an incredible shape!
This dress has a beautiful print, love how you styled it!
You are the master of the chic-messy hair look. I just look sloppy and unkempt. I call it messy in the most flattering way, of course.
The Auspicious Life
Cute dress. Lovely piano! How lucky to move in to a home with a piano already there!
if nothing else, it makes an awesome prop! i'm in love with this dress/necklace combo. and your hair ... soo pretty ...
