I don't always love strapless tops. If they don't have built-in support at the stomach, they never hang right and you spend too much time hauling and adjusting. Like so...

But I found both the skirt and top while thrifting last week and I thought they looked pretty snappy together. Besides, I spent the afternoon at a friend's holiday monday bbq and my friends are forgiving folk. They put up with me the day before when I ate three big plates of spaghetti and then complained about the pain in my stomach for an hour, so I'm sure they can handle the constant haul up, as long as I suffer in silence. I do plan on putting little darts in the top though. The crowd might not be full of friendly faces next time I go out in it, and a lady should avoid bosom re-alignment in public at all costs. Just a tip...
Everything I'm wearing is second hand. Finally. I feel like I'm always one item short of thrift perfection. A wedding band doesn't count though, right? I would have been impressed if Matt had thrifted that...Because of work, I don't always wear my wedding and engagement rings. Sometimes I think Matt should have asked for my hand in marriage with a cat instead of a ring... It all worked out, I got the diamonds and 3 cats.

i am most certain that you have achieved thrifting perfection with this. i love it. great pattern mixing and despite the slight adjustments being made in the last pic, i'd say this is the perfect little outfit for you.

I too have the "support" issue! I found a bra that is amazing! it's called Age defying Lift by Vanity Fair. It makes an x, a halter, or strapless and stays put!!! (I used to sell bras, and 90% of the support should come from the bra itself, not the straps. Sears sells them, and a ton of other very supportive ones as well. I always hit the clearance rack. I have gotten enough bras to last a life time and some were less than 5 bucks! I always go a size smaller for strapless, too. Less tugging issues :)

Ah, you've made it to the dark side, where all your items are second hand! It feels so good, doesn't it! You look beautiful, and you're right, the patterns fit together like Anthropologie told them to.

I love the pattern pairing. I happen to think polka dots look best paired with another print.

Hell yeah. Life is good when you've got diamonds and kitties.

I really love the combo here. I too, am always a couple items short of completely thrifted, but the important thing is you look like a million bucks. I dig it.

It might have been a little tougher to conceal a kitty in a ring box though...

The skirt and top look great together - worth the need for adjustment.

that skirt is stupendous and i love the originality of your necklace! ... a cat may be slightly tricky to wear around... however, i'm certain you'd be able to implement it into various outfits...

You are a thrifting goddess! I love that dotty skirt! I have a similar issue with all strapless tops, so I've pretty much given up on them.

I love that you are willing to sew an item into good behavior. This is a cool mix, but anything to make that top behave would be a great improvement.

I have a solution...wedding band tattoos...although it might be hard to score drinks at clubs with that.
SOOOOOO Remember the last time we saw each other? Can we hurry up and make plans so that.

a, You remember my face.
b, we can finally owe you, because we do.
c, I can get my Brianne necklace? Okay maybe I just want the necklace.

P.s. Paul and I will be in Niagara falls June 12 for the ride to conquer cancer...must discuss.

Love the mix of prints! I really like that necklace as well.

I am also wearing an almost 100% thrifted outfit today. I might have to take some pics when I get home.

Wow am I glad you read through the bazillion comments that people have left by the time I seem to get to your post.. Ms Retro Reva is my knight in shining armor! I HATE strapless bras because I'm, well.. well endowed and I was under the impression the girls needed straps to really fulfill their destiny. Off to sears I go..

ps.. I thought you were going to amaze me by claiming your necklace was actually a vacuum cleaner hose that you made into a necklace. I think my expectations are getting a bit out of control huh.. maybe take your amazingness down a peg or two, and I can regain normal levels of appreciation.

Ok. So. This reminds me of how short I am. I have that skirt in blue and white and it's to my knees. SIGH. You lucky duck with your long beautiful legs! no fair!! :)

I know! With those types I have to wear my uncomfy strapless bra, not always worth it. And P.S. I still am into ‘the flare’.

Hi. I really love how you mix and match patterns. Could you give some tips&tricks how should I begin matching different patterns? I wasn't brave enough to try combining patterns yet.
