Jersey dress?
Collective Concepts, Winners
OTK socks? h&m
Leather bomber? Zara
Biker boots? Gap
Necklaces? antique market and gifted

I like what I wore. It's hard to go wrong with this dress... the drape and cut are perfect and the jersey is quality, it's so soft yet sturdy that I scored a deal when I got this dress for $16. And yet I feel like I let myself down... I should have worn more thrifted pieces, I should have stuck my legs through the arm holes of a shirt and called them harem pants, I should have mixed a plaid with a paisley and stuck a bird in my hair... the pressure! This blog has definitely made me challenge the boundaries of what I wear but sometimes dressing isn't about taking risks but it's about realizing what's enough. And this is enough and it's ok. Maybe tomorrow I will pin that bird in my hair but for now it can fly free...

I know exactly what you mean. Occasionally I'll put on an outfit knowing we're going to take pictures for the blog and the next day when I'm just wearing whatever I felt like throwing on, my fiance will comment that he likes me better that way...and then I wonder how much pressure I put on myself, like you said, to be "unique" (or whatever) for the sake of the blog. OK, I've written a novel. Anyway, I think you look great. I'm a big fan of all black - and your hair looks awesome.

Love this outfit! Personally I'm too lazy to even wear one necklace, let alone two . .

you look amazing in black. the other day i wore a black dress and flats and simple as it might be, i felt f'in fabulous. and i totally hear you on "blog pressure," but i love seeing people wear what they love.
plus you look fabulous even without twenty-five layers, three belts, and a good dose of plaid.

Ah, so you know of this hot trend? At www.regretsy.com, do a search on skants...it's a real eyeful... ;0

I too am guilty of trying too hard. I've been trying to curb it, but the pressure IS always on, you're right. I actually wanted to change pants today, but my husband liked the pleated ones and called me chicken, so I had to go out in them. You know, because he threw down. And I always accept a "you're wearing THAT?" challenge?

Anyway, I actually think you look chic as hell. No need to pin a bird to the head, yet. :)

You look great. And your jewelery is lovely. I would still read your blog if you only wore "comfortable" clothing because your style would shine through in the details.

Agree! Wear what you love, I sometimes feel the pressure to be more creative, but then I wouldn't be me!

Oh man I totally hear that. I did a post about the same thing in my early blogging days. I guess every day is still early at this stage, it's only been 4 months.
Anywho, I often dress so outrageously or make a statement or become a character that, on days when I just feel like wearing something that is comparatively plain I feel like I'm letting myself down. We put too much pressure on ourselves. Our "plain" outfits still look incredible. We all know that we are capable of doing/wearing amazing things. Not wearing amazing things every day is OK.
And come to think of it, who's to say what's amazing or not...

That is so true about putting the pressure on. Days when things come together well is when I wear what I like rather than trying too hard. It's so hard having an off-day when you post an outfit every day.

This is perfectly elegant! (I love you cameo necklace)
I find if I succumb to blog pressue and get too expeimental I just end up look ridiculous!

This is definitely enough - I really like to see more simple and dressed down looks. For those of us without a natural sense of style, it's a bit intimidating sometimes to see the more out there sort of outfits. Something like this can still provide plenty of ideas...off I pop to buy some knee high socks!

So, what happened?
Did you get pulled over by a cop in the RIDE program and because you had a glass of wine they asked you to walk the line? Thus making a good photo op for Matt?? I think so.

Well, I'm a total fan of this look. You look hot in black (I hope that's not weird to say), and I love that cameo! Dress how you want, and as for the rest, as my mom would say, if they don't like it, fuck 'em and feed 'em fish heads.

Yes! Black jersey is such a great go to look.

BTW, I am so happy to know and love winners. The hubby is Canadian and I went there to shop with his mom when were were visting - they have awesome deals. Sometimes better than Marshalls in the states.

hahaha love the last pic. I'm all for classic simplicity so I love this outfit (and all the other one's you've ever posted...) but sometimes i feel like I should be pushing more boundaries too for my blog. At the end of the day though, people come to a blog for the owners personal style, whatever it may be that day :)

LOVE those necklaces! and hope you both didn't get run over ;)

I DON'T feel you yen.. I'm actually very disappointed in you. I come to your blog to giggle like a school girl and see someone mix plaid into any conceivable outfit... ha. My 'off' days consist of my pj's which I haven't changed out of all day. The only day I DO take photos anymore is when I make an effort. Don't mind me, I'm just off to get some cheese for my wine..

ps don't even get me started on knocky knees..The M does a great impression of that too. Or the heels out, toes in look. I'm sorry I don't need to make my hips look any wider than usual.

I love this look - classic with a twist! I know what you mean, some days I feel like my outfit is too boring but if that is what I feel like wearing, it's fine and it goes on the blog! I think the shape of the dress, the killer socks, and fun necklaces keep it interesting!

Sometimes, less is more :) I find that now I'm always trying to push my boundaries and add, add, add, but you can't go wrong with an LBD and a few simple accessories. I love those necklaces, too!

Secondhand Stella said...

Sometimes less is more when it comes to fashion. I like wearing simple outfits and then jazzing things up with accessories. I like the necklaces you are wearing!!!!

Oh, and I was the "MC"/emcee for the swap this weekend. I would hold up items for the room and see if anyone wanted them. I put the good stuff in my pile before anyone else could see those items, though ;) Hey, it was my party so I got first dibs.

hahaha... as much as I'd love to see your DIY harem pants, this look is pretty spectacular.

GORGEOUS. I love how it's a bit subtle, but totally stylish. And I love the panic photo at the end! (word verification: looned)

Love this look - some days you just need to keep things simple.

The fashion blogging life has made it seem like you need to take far more fashion risks than ever before.

Chic on the Cheap

I dig this completely.

I'm also way jealous of your photo shoot. I can only imagine the chaos that would ensue if I tried to drag my tripod out into the middle of the street, but it just looks so cool!

Even on your dress-down days you look chic! The other night my sister and I were headed to dinner and I must have changed 5 or 6 times... my fiance, looking on with pity, told me I was thinking about it too hard and to go with the first thing I tried on. I tried for about 2 seconds to explain why I HAD to wear something novel and unique but it sounded so ridiculous coming out that I shut up and just threw on a dress and some booties... and it worked. He was right, we think too hard sometimes. I don't even feel like jeans and a t-shirt qualify as being "dressed" anymore, this blogging thing has ruined me.

This has nothing to do with your outfit - which is lovely, btw - but today on my way into work the radio played two (2!) Backstreet Boys songs, and I knew you'd appreciate the awesomeness.

The draping of the skirt part is really flattering and you look so effortlessly chic. Also, your hair looks amazing!

This is a great outfit! I love your blog because you are always so open about the struggles of style blogging, and its comforting to know someone else feels that way. I know exactly what you mean, so I've gone from doing photos every day to only when I feel like it. It feels much better.
