Matt called me out for Hawaiian shirt hypocrisy. Apparently I've told him before that he wasn't allowed to wear his Hawaiian shirt in public. I would prefer to say I strongly discouraged him, not that I didn't 'allow' him...
And it's not that I have a problem with Hawaiian shirts, I just had a problem with his variety. There is a difference between this sweet authentic, vintage find and the mall Hawaiian shirts of over a decade ago. You know the ones I am talking about... The polyester, oversized and brightly printed shirts that almost all guys wore back then; they came either with the bright flowers, Asian inspired dragons or at their very worst, with flames. If you don't know what I am talking about then maybe this was more of a local trend. Either way, I am sorry, but they were all bad.

Almost as bad as my Horatio Caine impression in picture #4...

Ha! I know exactly what kind of mall Hawaiian shirts you're talking about. It definitely wasn't a local trend. My husband has two of them, and he insists on wearing them while traveling, probably just to embarrass me....

The shirt is fantastic! I wish I could a) find something that awesome then b) have the balls to wear it with such panache. It looks effortless. Loved yesterday's dress find as well Yen. You've been winning all summer long!x

Love the vintage Hawaiian shirt! I would never have paired that with the black heels but I'm loving it. I never know what to wear black shoes with in the summer they always seem so harsh.

Yep, my high school boyfriend wore ugly shirts covered in huge hibiscus flowers, ca. 2003 in Florida. Your shirt is far superior.

This is the best way to wear a Hawaiian shirt ever!!! I love these ripped jeans and that hat is perfect.
Some hawaiian shirts can be so tacky, and I think it's harder for guys to pull them off haha

Love how you styled this outfit!!

I've decided that I want an aloha shirt to wear with a mini skirt or skinny jeans, and this is a MAJOR thing for me because I actually live in Hawaii and have to wear aloha shirts for my job. In the past I have firmly stated that I would never wear Aloha outside of work, but now I suddenly it seems cute, as long as I don't have to wear an apron or tell anyone about the fresh catch special. It's all about how you style it!

The thrift stores here are full of excellent aloha shirts, and though I normally find ones for work in the women's section, I plan on sifting through the men's for a slightly larger one that I can roll the sleeves up and pair with something girly.

Well-played, Yen.
