Boots? Nine West, thrifted Necklace? Thrifted
My friend has been telling me about a few good vintage/consignment/thrift places over in Brantford for a while now and we finally got together this weekend to go check them out. This is what I wore. The one boutique Netty Vintage pretty much blew my mind as the awesomeness continued from room to room. There was so much good stuff that I was overwhelmed. I'll be going back there to do some serious shopping after I've sold Matt's kidney.
I broke my own guidelines for thrifting by wearing these boots that are a major pain to take on and off and pairing them with a skirt that is too short to allow footwear removal in an elegant manner. Sometimes a cute outfit trumps thrift practicality. I did however stick to my rule of not buying embellished pieces that are starting to lose beads or sequins. Which is a hard thing to stick to, because this fabulous jacket had some unravelling on the other side of the lapel and leaving it behind was painful...
*f.y.i.- I did wear a parka over this outfit. No body parts were frozen in the making of this post.

This outfit blows my mind. I really love how nail the whole "fancy, but laidback" style, so good! You're right, fashion trumps practicality sometimes and that outfit is worth it!

That skirt is gorgeous! Thanks for the close up of it. It's a shame that jacket wasn't in top quality. I am trying to only purchase items from thrift stores that are in top quality because otherwise they end up back at the thrift store a few months later. But that's hard too when I also want to add unique items like this to my closet!

I cannot believe you left that jacket behind. It is GORGEOUS! I'm always on the lookout for a good vintage/thrift store and will now totally have to check that one out.
My favourite store is in Elora, it's strictly vintage wares that are stunning called Sweet Trash. I highly recommend it.

Jentine, you are my favourite rule breaker. I mean, who else can rock a gold printed skirt paired so effortlessly with a cotton knit top. Unless it's cashmere, but you would have told us that, yes?
Serious thrifting, say a 50% off day, does require attention to 'the rules'. Exploring new to you stores with a friend...well, ya gotta go cute.
Brave you for not snapping up that jacket. The colours in that beauty are so me, if I wasn't out here on the wet coast, I would be all over it like a bear on honey. {Lame analogy, I know.}

Oh Yen! So sad you had to leave the jacket behind. I know the same thing. I just bought a cute thermal knit stripe top this morning that has a weird discoloration/stain thingy on it, but I bought it anyway. I figure I can wear a vest or a jacket enough to hide it. The rest of it was way cute!!!! for $2 ya, worth it. I've learned to only wear button front shirts and comfy jeans when thrift shopping. I might go back for some shoes that were way different and get a 20%coupon for donating some weird things of HM's.
