We spent exactly 8 hours in New York City. We paid $50 to park for those 8 hours. When I came back to Hamilton the first thing I did was hug a parking meter; the kind that takes dimes.
It was our plan to stay in NYC for a few days but with the impending storm (Nemo? We're naming snow storms now?), we figured we should get out of the city. This way we could also get the truck across the border before the weekend and then go work the storm. It wasn't the fun option but it was the right decision. Matt and I looked at each other and had a moment where we congratulated ourselves on our maturity. We're into celebrating that stuff...
8 hours isn't a lot of time but it was enough time to wear sequins to
Kendi's Gap event, catch up with that kid and expose our ankles to the cold like true fashion bloggers. It was also good to hug
Jessie, meet
Anna and
Sarah and talk to (and jealousy ogle) a sweet gal who was wearing a thrifted (!) Rag and Bone leather vest.
We left NYC at 11:30 p.m. and drove home straight through the night. We had to wait an hour and a half at the border to register the vehicle, so we got some sleep in the parking lot of a church. That made us feel like legit road trippers... Well, that and getting pulled over by state troopers a day earlier.
We came back to Hamilton Friday morning in the midst of the storm. I ended up pretty much sleeping for the next 24 hours. I'd been fighting against getting sick all week but after 4 days of road tripping, my body had had enough. I felt terrible. I felt even more terrible about not being able to plow in the storm. I know how hard it is to clear and stay on top of a big storm and I was not happy that I had to bail on work. Finally, we get a huge storm like the good old days and I end up in bed the entire time... Sad.
And that, my friends, was my foray into New York Fashion Week. What can I say? My life is 24/7 glamour...

Glad you guys made it back to Hamilton alright, too bad you got sick :-( I have friends in the New England area that are literally trapped in their home because the road crews are having such a hard time clearing the roads. And others don't have any power.
You and I have been in NYC about the same amount of time, I've been once and was only there about 8 hours. At least you got to see some of Fashion Week.
You guys are road trip pros! I hope you feel better soon!
Those poor cold feet must have done it to you! Hope you feel better soon!
Wow, isn't this storm something?! You must be so happy now, that you made the difficult decision to leave NYC early. Too bad that you had to, but at least you had 8 hours there. Your sequins look excellent.
it's so funny to see your snowy pic from this post right above the springy pic from your last post. glad you got to see kendi even if only for a bit. hope you get to feeling better!!!!!

Glad to see you got home safely. I worried about all you girls getting trapped in NYC during the storm. Hope you get to go to Fashion Week again and stay a little longer! Hope you're feeling better...
That sequin dress is so pretty!

SO glad I got to run into you and Matt during your short trip in NYC! Next time you're in town I think we should have a planned run-in with cocktails - and maybe a little sparkle swapping.. I wasn't kidding, I'm totally coveting that great striped sequin number. ;)
Until next time... xo
Feel better! Jel you got to attend Kendi's Gap event. Going to click on all your links now and see who you met!
