Sparkle and Dot

Shirt? Algo, thrifted  Skirt? Loft, thrifted (longer but similar here) Clutch? Thrifted
Shoes? Ralph Lauren, DSW (here)

This vintage shirt started out as a dress with an attached pleated skirt. Sadly, the skirt was already weakened by the pleating process, so when I carefully hand washed it (I was soooo careful but it had to be done...), the skirt pretty much disintegrated. I cut my losses and salvaged the top. It looks cute with the polka dot skirt but I would have loved to have a chance to wear it in its full-on shiny glory.

If the dress had been intact, it would have been a fun challenge to style. Some would say that pleats, sparkles and a big bow have the potentail to be a bit too much but I fully endorse too much. In that respect, Donald Trump and I are similar. No one really cares what we endorse...

Let's get some cocktails, because this is a cocktails sort of getup.

Aw that happened to me once too. I bought this gorgeous peach silk 60s dress and it disintegrated in the wash. At least you were able to salvage part of the dress, though. I love it with that skirt. Fancy :)

I would have loved to see it in all it's shiny pleated glory! Since when is too much ever too much? But I'm quite glad you were able to salvage the top part...it looks fantastic with your skirt...and I can imagine you will get a lot more wear out of it as a top!

I always appreciate your humor on top of your fabulous outfits. Such a shame you didn't get to wear that gold dress in its full glory because I too think that would be fabulous!!!

I love how you reworked these pieces and put together a great look. I'm wearing sparkles today too, but I've paired them with stripes, you can have a look at www.natashafatah.blogspot.com

Let me know what you think!

If only I had your skills to salvage such treasures...you should offer a sewing class! In the US. In Oregon. Southern Oregon, actually. I bet your class would be hilariously fun :)

When I see you in Austin, I'm going to have a bag full of clothes that will need to be altered by you. And because we are now family...you are obligated to do it.

Just a hint...I have a belt that I want to turn into an evening gown. But I have faith in your abilities!

I love the shimmer with the polka dots! Very "J. Crew" of you! Which is a compliment in my book every time:)

Love your outfit, but especially the bun. Very simple, yet different from the ubiquitous topknot!

Sometimes things work out for the best. The "dress" makes a wonderful blouse and paired with the skirt... a truely lovely outfit. Socre!

I'm DYING over this skirt even though the top is getting all the love.

PS - where the f-bomb is your snow!? (jealous, ugh).
