Dress and Necklaces? All thrifted
What? A vintage ployester maxi dress.
Where? Talize
How much? $3.50
Why? Two Mondays ago it was the 50% off sale at Talize and last Monday it was the 50% off sale at Value Village. I got up super early to make it to both by 7 am (I know, I'm still grouchy at Value Village but the 50% off lured me...) and I did OK. Sadly, I always have more success when I have to pay full price. I did get this dress though... It's a little different for me; it is a lot of polyester and it has a rather ridiculous print (blue ladybugs and tulips...? ) but the fit is really flattering. There are elastics hidden under the arms that give the dress a nice shape in the right spots and let the rest of the dress drape nicely. Because I am awesome, I tried on the dress at home and I got myself completely tangled in these elastics and I snapped the one right off... Go ahead, take a moment and laugh as you picture me tangled in this dress...
Now the dress sits in the fix-it pile. It will take me 10 minutes to throw in new elastics but I will probably procrastinate on doing that until the spring... I can't just stop being a procrastinator, Matt would worry...
What did you thrift this week?

No thrifting for me :( Over two months now...am getting the shakes! But I like this dress! I like maxi dresses, but they're sort of tricky for me to wear. They're also never quite maxi enough. :/
I bought a vintage wool Pendleton maxi button down skirt. It's so cute! Now if it could just get cold enough to wear it.

I saw many dresses like this in the vintage section of TopShop in London...they were all over 100 pounds! Well done even if you had paid full price I'd say :)
This dress is so amazing, what a print! Sorry to hear about the tangle up but I'm with you on the procrastination, I have a pile to do at home....
Gorgeous, I love the bright colors! I thrifted a houndstooth skirt, bright yellow purse, black shimmery dinner jacket, polka dot jumpsuit- some truly amazing finds! Xo

I love the print! you might not want to mention they're blue lady bugs though when I paid attention to them I was a bit shocked, I mean why?? Anyways as long as no one pays attention and you don't mention it the dress is gorgeous. =D
I thrifted 3 LBD, I'm not a black color lover but they are very cute...once I finish refashioning them. =)
This is a gorgeous dress! I love the color & pattern. Great find!

I bought a murder mystery part game and a Santa hat last Saturday, but not the black jersey maxi skirt or loafers or booties that I was hoping to find... Love that dress!
I absolutely love that dress, that blue is amazing. I have been thrifting a lot lately, it gets my creative juices flowing. The best thing I thrifted this week was a pair of pink Hunter boots for $5.99.
Gorgeous thrift finds! I cant wait to see you style them :) XOXO, www.NatalyasCloset.com
I thrifted a great pair of open toe booties this week, and on the day of my dad's 62nd birthday.
I wore them here: http://natashafatah.blogspot.com/2011/11/mega-birthday.html
Let me know what you think Yen!
I can see that dress looking amazeballs on. The pattern will be perfect for spring.
I convinced my entire family to join me at Salvation Army's 50% off Black Friday sale. I scored a military vest, tweed jacket and a quilted purse. Best of all, the local newspaper was there and interviewed me about thrift shopping on Black Friday!

This dress is made from such an awesome fabric!
Love the print and the retro colourway! I'm intrigued by the arm elastic - how does that work? You'll HAVE to fix it, so you can show us the construction details. ;)
i wasnt feeling the thrift this week, so i left behind some 70s woven leather clogs, a christian dior fitted jacket, and some hand painted japanese celadon plates. what was my problem?
I bought a stack of Little Golden Books for my little nephew

That dress is amazing. That will be an awesome 70s inspired look for spring with platform sandals. Good work!
I thifted a leopard print dolman tee, an orange dolman tee, a black wool pencil skirt, a couple vintage nightgowns and 2 tribal print midi skirts. And a Brooks Brothers polo for $4 for the hubs. Score!
That's a great maxi! I grabbed some fun sweaters...my fav being a neon green/black stripe one!
I hit an awesome estate sale - it was the home of a former Naval officer, and his wife was a clothes horse. They must've been stationed in Japan in the 60s because she had some amazing custom-made items from that era with labels from Japan. I left with gobs of vintage goodness - a lovely blue/cream/lavender silk double-breasted plaid tailored coat ($5), a nubby cream silk suit ($5), a rosey-pink sleeveless linen fitted dress with a jewel neckline trimmed in moss-green and rosey-pink fabric flower-petals ($5), a Gabar 60s cotton floral swimsuit ($2) , 2 awesome cream wool skirts - one full and pleated, one A-line with an inverted box pleat in front ($3 each) and a lacey cream crochet wool vest ($1). I'm still high on thrifting endorphins!
p.s. Your dress is amazing, and what a glorious necklace! High five!
Ok, where did you get your dress form? I've been looking and looking and I can't find one that's not super expensive or tacky. Thanks! XO

It has taken me about two years, but I've finally gotten onboard with the whole maxi dress thing. I know that will look great on you!
