Seeing all the stylish girls in Utrecht, Holland last week made me feel inspired me for the autumn season at hand. Bring on the layers, colours and knits...! The Dutch girls always look breezy yet chic as they deal with the bike commute through the city and the temperamental weather. While I was there, I tried to keep up. And I ate droppies (picture #3).
Matt also felt inspired by Dutch fashion.
He now wears these klompen working around the yard. I think they must hurt, at least until he wears them in, but he's too stubborn to admit it. After all... his klompen bring all the girls to the yard...
Ha... is this song stuck in your head now?

Great outfits, the pink shorts are my favourite. So funny too. Surely they must hurt his feet?!
X x
I love layering :) I also love the outfit from the girl on the beach :) Klompen doen pijn ja, haha ^^ x
How fun!!! I love the pictures:) And Matt's shoes are pretty fantastic!!
I love the leather pads on the shoulders of your sweater. I'm thinking they'd be a great DIY project for someone with sewing skills (aka not me).
I was wondering if salted licorice was in that bag! I was introduced to them by some dutch friends this summer. All I can say is, hmm, they are kinda weird but they also make you want to try more.
A wise woman once told me: nothing is sexier than a man in a pair of klompen.
Salty liquorice? im kinda grossed out.
i love the rest of this post tho, were u biking in a skirt? we may need to break up if you were.
that picture of matt and (your brother?) is too cute for words. those "shoes" cannot be comfortable. whats it gonna take, 10 years to break in WOOD shoes?
Hahahahaha, love those wooden shoes.
i'm sort of in love with every outfit you've posted here. you may or may not see yourself ALL OVER my pinterest. just fyi.
and yes, that song is stuck in my head :)
I love the pic of you on the beach! The glasses look great too.
xo L.
love the outfits :)
and yes, of all the five european capitals i stomped round this summer, amsterdam was the one which impressed me most in terms of effortless chic. very stylish without looking as if the wearer was tying too hard
Is that Gerard's head on Arnold Swartzenegers body?
You look amazing in the photos! I'm getting excited for fall even though summer was only a few weeks long here.
I was thinking along the same lines as Emily. Can you even break in wooden shoes? Or do your feet just resign themselves to their wooden-shoed fate?

The Suburb Experiment
Emily and Jenn- apparently the klompen do get worn in and can be quite comfortable. Farmers wear them to keep out the cold and rain. True story.
Another true story was me biking in a skirt. Sorry Emily. It was a bad choice and the world (or that little town) got to see the upshot. Classy, I know.
I wear skirt on a bike all the time. Just make sure the skirt is long enough :) By the way, klompen are really comfortable and excellent for your feet, as it seems. My littlest one wears klompen all the time, because he ruins every pair of leather shoes he gets to put on. He's a real Dutch little farmer boy ;-)
