Skirt? Thrifted Shirt? Thrifted Shoes? Jeffrey Campbell via a giftcard I won Cuffs? Auction Purse? Thrifted
I am fighting the urge to ramble on uncontrolled about how much I love this outfit. I got the silk shirt for two dollars and the wool skirt for five dollars and I felt like a million dollars. That's the magic of mathematics at a thrift store.
And while mathematics is my strong point at the thrift store, it was my downfall at the auction I got these cuffs at. I forgot that you are bidding to set a price for each item, so I smugly thought I scored both of these cuffs for $20 but it turns out I had to pay $20 for each cuff. I kept my face free from disappointment though, didn't want the people to see my newbie status at the auction...
Have I told you how much I love this outfit? Oh, I have? My apologies.
Ouch, that's like two giant bags of clothes at a thrift store. Sorry for the lame comparison, lately I've been addicted to comparing things to thrift store bags. Matt was like, let's grab fast food and I just said, " No way, that's two shirts/1/4 of a thrift store bag. I'd rather shop. I think my addiction is taking over. Help me.
ReplyDeleteif i had this outfit, it'd be my favorite, too! LOVE.
ReplyDeleteBAAM.

ReplyDeleteThis look is a beautiful combination. It looks great photographed in a parking lot too. I would like to use one of these pictures is my feature next week about colored pencil skirts. Of course, I would post a link too. Would you mind?

I want to sift and thrift where you sift and thrift. It would be such a gift.

ReplyDeleteSo stunning! Thrift stores rule. You rule. Those cuffs rule. LOOOOVE! x

ReplyDeleteThat skirt is a perfect fit on you! So flattering. I love that outfit, too!
ReplyDeleteAw! Too bad about the pricy cuffs, but it looks like they are worth it! Plus, with the great blouse and skirt score, it evens out! You look great! What fun colors!

ReplyDeleteA Girl's Next Best Friend
WOW. I LOVE this. I've followed your blog for sometime now and am constantly impressed with your outfits, but this one...all I can say is WOW.
ReplyDeleteAnd I want it.
I love this outfit, but those cuffs kill me. LOVE! I'd have cringed about the auction incident myself. Just wear the heck out of 'em!
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I don't think $20 a pop for those cuffs is outrageous. They're damn awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit too. And that auction bid is something I'd totally do. NEWBS 4EVA!

I love this! I can't believe that practically your whole outfit is thrifted! Actually I can because you're really good at thrifting : )Great color-blocking!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you love that outfit! You look amazing!
ReplyDeletei can see why you love this outfit!
ReplyDeletewoah, $20 each! crazy, but worth it! i like how you combined all these colors here. looks great!
ReplyDeleteDon't blame you. This outfit is undeniably lovable.
ReplyDeleteSo fabulous! I love the cuffs so much.
ReplyDeletehey skinny minnie. those are my school colors! :)
ReplyDeleteMan I don't know, those cuffs are worth $40. So unique and beautiful! Your outfit's color combo were my favorite colors from ages 2 to 18. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful outfit. The skirt fits you perfectly and I love the color combination.
ReplyDelete$20/cuff is pretty steep, but they really are amazing. I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of them.
Seriously I saw the fist pic pop up on my reader and was floored. LOVE the color combo and you seriously look like a model.
ReplyDeleteWanderlusting Fool

ReplyDeletePeople mix complementary colors (see: Christmas), but never these two! You look amazing. Yeah, you SHOULD like it. Who wouldn't?
ReplyDeleteLove the bright and bold colors!
ReplyDeleteYou look GORGEOUS! I love this. I also love the double walk the line photo! Your thrifting skills amaze me to no end. I don't know how to say this without sounding like a judgey jerk, but I love that you break the thrift stereotype when it comes to style... so many girls who are super into thrifting end up looking a bit like little house on the prairie guest stars (I'm sorry, this is so mean) but you show that vintage/thrift can look CURRENT and STYLISH and MODERN, and I love that about you.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous outfit!! LOVE!
ReplyDeletethose cuffs! totally worth the splurge! thank goodness those bright colored silk tops were so popular in the 80s, so we can all don them now :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! Love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteAnd that purse?? awesome!
I wish I had your thrifting skills (or at least a shred of them). I have tried thrift stores, but when I go I can't seem to find anything. :(

ReplyDeleteI'm going to echo pretty much everyone here and say that I LOVE THIS OUTFIT!
ReplyDeleteHow do you find such gems? And style them to look so chic and effortless?
So. Jealous.

Purple and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations! Today I'm rocking it as well, with a yellow top and vintage purple beaded necklace (the beads look like little eggplants!). They're also going to be the colors of my wedding bouquet...if and when I get a date and place.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning as always.
That skirt is INSANE! Also, cuffs were totally worth the money. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you like this outfit? Is that what you said? Well, I like your legs, so there!
ReplyDeletePERFECT color combo. Just gorgeous.

that shirt makes me simmer with jealousy. "her hungry eyes gazed upon the skirt before flicking upwards and settling on the ravishingly modest silk shirt, and instantly, she felt her cheeks flush and her heart pound. "...oh oops, too far??
ReplyDeleteI think the $40 is worth it for these cuffs ... nice!

I crack up reading yours and Kendi's blogs on the same days, because they are so often the same. Color blocking. "Like" in your title. And you're both wearing clothes and talking about them. Craziness.
ReplyDeleteThis has got to be one of the BEST color blocking ensembles I have ever seen!!! And yes, it is simply amazing how a few well put together thrift store items can having you feeling like a million buck. Overprice...yeah...but still got LOVE the cuffs.
ReplyDeletewww.fatndfierce.blogspot.com
I LOVE that outfit too!!! And yay for thrifting. I've been doing so much thrifting that I have a difficult time shopping in regular stores (because of the price differences AND uniquness{real word?} of clothing...)
ReplyDeleteLooooove those cuffs! Pricey, yea but who else are you going to see wearing them?? The outfit rocks, too - as usual.
ReplyDeletethis outfit is amazing! i love the bold colors! girl... this is gorgeous!!!
