Sequin Tee? Thrifted
Cut-offs? AE, Winners
Boots? Gap
Belt? Thrifted

I'm so spoiled with thrift shopping around here that when I had to pay $8 for this shirt, I nearly threw a fit. It's funny, when there is an end of season sale at Gap, the low prices start to melt my brain and I end up coming home with stuff I don't really need or want but the single digit on the price tag lures me in. Yet when a Goodwill charges $8 for a silk beaded shirt, I feel like I'm being ripped off.
It didn't help that I honestly found this shirt on the 50% off rack so I was mentally prepared to pay $4. But the lady at the cash told me the shirt wasn't supposed to be on the rack and you could tell she thought I was one of those sneaky people who slipped the shirt into the sale section in order to rip off a charity organization. Not true, my mother raised me slightly better than that... I wanted the shirt; the colour was so pretty but I already have a lot of thrifted sequin sensations (examples here, here, here and here) so I had to take a moment and wrestle the 'Do You Really Need That?' demon. In the moment where I had to decide whether this shirt was worth temporarily switching to No Name Diet Cola for, the sales lady imparted her wisdom and told me that 'these shirts are selling at the mall for $100.' Ok, sold. If these are selling at The Mall, then I need one...
And I am glad I splurged the $8 for it... after all, in my enchanted life there is no such thing as too many sequins, dresses or cats.

It's a gorgeous shirt! I know what you mean, though, about feeling like $8 is a lot to spend on something at Goodwill.

Oh I feel you on that $8. I usually feel like I'm being ripped off at $4.99! Haha :)
But then I just tell myself it's for charity and think about how much more I could be spending.

I love your top! ♥

Couldn't agree more about the sequins and dresses...we part ways on the cats though. Your shirt is gorgeous and the blue looks fab on you.

I think you are the sole reason I need more sequins in my life. Love the color and design of this one!

I feel the same way about Goodwill or Salvation Army's prices -- anytime I see something over $10 or something, I'm just like "Are you kidding? What a ripoff," even though the mall equivalent is probably more than that. I just sometimes hate that the prices at the thrift stores are starting to get a little savvy about what's popular now...

That's a great buy - I love that color on you too.

I totally agree with the whole thrift store price thing. I get angry if something is more than $3 at a thrift store. I love that top, though! I wish I could find a shirt like that when I go thrift store shopping.

I generally have a hard time paying over $4 for anything at the Goodwill, but every once in a while I find something I truly can't live without and break down and pay whatever crazy price they are asking for.

This top look fantastic on you and the color and detailing are fabulous. I say it was well worth the $8.

Did you lose a contact?

Also, you look fabulous. I like the fancy blouse with the bad-a$$ boots and cut-offs. I think this look is well worth $8, which is less than a movie! You should eat popcorn while wearing that blouse and feel smug.

Haha...never enough sequins!

Seriously a gorgeous blouse. So happy you got it!

You look fabulous in that blue!
I have noticed thrift store prices have gone up lately...maybe there are too many of us thrifting now and they can get the higher prices. Its irritating!

The Mall couldn't have given you a better one, the wise lady was correct. I love it, especially with your blonde hair. Sensational!

Seriously? how cheap ARE these Canadian thrift stores?! Granted, most of the time I buy jewelry which seems to get priced higher.. but still. On a side note, if my sequin butter fly top [aka the winning shirt from our glitter off.... ahem] was the heaviest, non breathing garment I own, I'd proudly blind people walking down the street in it. Looks like I need something sheer with glitter.. outrage AND blind people.

The colour is gorgeous =).

It is gorgeous, and so very you. And it saved you a trip to the mall!

Hahha, I'm the same way!! I think thrift stores are catching on to this new thrifting trend so some of them are upping their prices..

HAHA...Merl did win, I counted the Vote...I voted the win. I'm a bad friend.

you blind my eyes with all that sequins and whenever you find another one it's always "Lin look at this shirt isn't it pretty" and I roll my eyes and pretend I like it when int he back of my head I'm saying "sequence AGAIN?"....

But this one I really like...not pretending.

Seriously you are spoiled with thrift shopping and I'm jealous. Great find.

I love mixing really dressy tops with cut-offs. I tried to do it myself last week, and my husband gave me the arched eyebrow. I'm going to show him this post.

Love your hair, too!

$8 is a pretty standard price for things in my town. I went to a thrift store the next town over last weekend and got a trench coat for $3.50 and was flipping out.

I would have handed over $8 easily for that top, and your black and white one as well, which is awesome.

Gorgeous shirt! At least the $8 goes towards a good cause and not a big corporation!

I think you are the queen of sequins.

In fact, whenever I'm thrifting and come upon anything with sequins Bryan will always point to it and say "Jentine?" After hours upon hours of showing him your blog, I've trained him well.

I find I either feel better about buying something super cheap or super expensive (by super I mean less than $150 - and it's more often than not skin care) than I do about something mid-priced. Is that weird? I think that's weird.
I love your boots in this.

Laura said...

I love your sequined shirt but 8 bucks is a pretty good price since the thrift store I frequent the most absurdly marks up such wonderfulness. But when it comes to belts I can't bring myself to pay more than $1.50.

Kyla said...

suckerrrrr! just kidding - i'd totally pay $100 for that shirt :)

and yes, i'm am ridiculously spoiled by thrift stores. i don't even like to buy non-sale stuff at goodwill. good lord, that's sad.

Emma at Daily Clothes Fix said...

Great shirt - you definitely got a bargain and the colour looks great on you.

Alex said...

Sounds cheap to me! The mainstream charity shops over here have jacked their prices up considerably and they have a nasty price of asking £5/6 for a Primark dress that probably only cost £5 brand new :(

sequins with cutoff shorts--where does this brilliance strike you? and can i please get some of it?
i am feeling so lackluster in the heat and i need just a little sprinkle of your fabulousness, please.

Wow your blue tops looks really pretty in the night light..

I'm new to your blog, and I just have to say (after clicking through to see all your thrifted sequins) damn you're good at thrifting! I haven't been to a trift store or goodwill since high school (~7years ago!), but you inspire me to try again!

also, i love those boots. don't tell me that's what you're talking about when you see a single-digit price tag at the gap...

you are so good and taking glam to a different level, I wish I could bottle it and sell it, to myself!
