Something Different

If I had a store (because let's face it, the thought has niggled in my brain for years), I suspect I would spend an unreasonable amount of time merchandising it to look just right. But if I am shopping at a flea market or an antique store myself, I prefer to see dust, disorganization and piles and piles of stuff ready to tip over and maim me. It's because I love the hunt (which would explain the excessive thrifting in my life as well) and the feeling that at any moment the next treasure will be uncovered.
A friend took me to a little antique store in Utrecht and it was 2 floors packed full of crazy stuff. And out of all the amazing things that covered every inch of both floors, I bought this antique headband. It's not really my style, at all. Headbands are usually reserved for mommy bloggers and music festival goers (not a dig, just a truth) but it caught my eye immediately and came home with me. I love that the leaves are made of gold thread and that each flower is a slightly varied shade... I would renew my vows just to wear this headband... or just go to a music festival...

  7. You look like a Woodland Nymph and I mean that with the straightest face possible since that is such an unJentine like thing to say. Perhaps the better word would be "ethereal" which just came to me and I'm too lazy to delete Woodland Nymph.
    Love it on you!

  8. Okay, don't hate me, because you look gorgeous and I like the headband a lot, but my first thought when I saw the first picture was Taylor Swift.

  17. As a mom, I've steered clear of the headbands. It made me laugh because a lot of moms of little girls tend to be into the headband. I don't know if they put them on their daughters and then want to join the party or what.

  19. You look so ethereal and pretty like a mermaid or something. I enjoy the vintage headband on you and I'm glad you're showing the world they're more for just the music festival goers and mommy bloggers. I wish I was more like you in enjoying the thrill of the hunt and seeing the beauty in something that has dust and has been piled underneath things. I have such a lack of creativity that I see something dusty and old, well that's what it is and I leave it alone. Show me your ways when you come to Chicago. Your ass will be passing through Michigan where I now reside and we should make it a priority to meet! Well I'll see you in March at least in Texas. I'm just now realizing I'm writing you a novel in the form of a comment. Apologies.
