The Laws of Attraction. And Aversion.

Hat? Calvin Klein Tank? Zara (here) Jeans? h&m (bleach dipped)
Shoes? Taryn Rose, Winners (whoa, sparkly wedges here) Bracelets? The lady at The Ex and my Oma's

Sometimes I can't explain what draws me to a piece of clothing... Out of everything at Zara, I walked out with the cotton tank with a set of ribs sketched on it. I put back the emerald jeans (which, quite frankly, did nothing for the rear view), so I could get the top. Not really my usual style but then again, not sure what my usual style is.
It is easier for me to tell you what I don't like, than to tell you what I do like. I strongly dislike hankerchief hems, bell sleeves and low wedges. There is no rhyme or reason for these dislikes, they are just items that I have never bonded with. Emotionally. Or physically either apparently...
What items of clothing do you have an aversion to? Please don't say tank tops with ribs on them, because then I should have waited for this top to still be around during sale time...

  1. In my real life, I'm a bio-anthropologist. The tank with the ribs RAWKS!

  2. I really don't like flatforms. I get that they give extra height, and I assume they are a more comfortable way to do it over heels but they just don't do anything for well anyone.

  3. I adore your hat! I have never connected with regular old capri pants...I have just always felt like they look frumpy! Also long belted or drapey cardigans...they just remind me of bathrobes! Love your blog and your style! :)

  4. Leggings....being born in the early 70s, they remind me too much of Jane Fonda and her aerobic videos or even worse...Richard Simmons (although he preferred short shorts). LOL

  5. You look great! Love the skeleton tank! Items of clothing that I don't get along with are very pointy toed shoes, thumb rings, and capri pants.

  6. I dig your shirt, although I usually balk at anything with a skull because I think it's a little overdone. But a ribcage! Yes!

  7. I cannot stand shirts that have snaps on them! Your outfit is so fun- I like the rocker vibe it gives off :)

  8. I think the shirt is great! I sometimes say I like anything that looks like I could have made it a summer camp! But I, like you, can more often say what I don't like. I have tried handkerchief hems, and bell sleeves...they are bad news. I also, for no reason...or some deep one I am repressing, don't like sheer. It's all the rage these days, but I just can't get behind it...you'd see me!

    Love your blog, faithful reader...

  9. Hahaha, this is so funky and I think that you are pulling it off wonderfully. Somethings that I cannot stand are cap sleeves, kitten heels, and stirrup pants (I have my mother to thank for that last one.)

  12. Haha..love your tank top. It really is a piece of clothing with an acquired taste, but I respect that much. I own plenty of items in my closet that often others wrinkle their noses at.

  13. I'd have to say I have a huge aversion to anything with a bubble hem- especially with shirts. They scrunch up and look so goofy on me.

I think this outfit looks great! Especially love your hat!

  15. Kitten heels make me hate people:(

But I hate the word hate so I just eat cookies when I see kitten heels. Doesn't make sense? Neither do kitten heels:(

  17. That's a pretty edgy T-shirt - I like it!

    Denim sawed off, super short shorts - I can't support those. I won't! :)

  19. To each his own, but my current aversions are wedges of any kind, exposed zippers, the use of the term "arm party."

  21. I would have bought that tank too. So awesome!

  22. This is definitely not your usual style, but you look great!

There are plenty of things I don't wear but can appreciate on others, like animal prints. But I just don't care for nude shoes or ditsy florals in any context.

  23. I'm not against neon, but I have yet to find a piece that doesn't make me feel like I'm in fourth grade again. Also harem pants. I think they work well on others but when I wear them, I can't stop Hammer Time-ing in them.

I need to be completely serious with you right now. This is one of my favorite looks of yours ever. It's simple, but it's classic. I love the distressed jeans, the heels, the fedora and that tank. I didn't notice the ribs on it, but I'm glad you pointed them out because it makes it so unique. Well done Jentine!

  24. Hehe. A ribbed tank. So great.

Also, babydoll dresses. Why wear baby clothes?

  25. You look so chic! I love your hat, top, jeans, and heels! http://www.natalyascloset.com/

  26. Harem pants. I just canNOT. They look like a poopy diaper all droopy in the middle. Of course, then I see someone painfully fabulous wear them and I think, well maybe. Then I slap myself and it's over.

How tall are you, Jentine? Because to this pipsqueak you look a million miles tall, especially here.

  27. The hat is awesome. I hate huge belt buckles with the designer name. Like that Moschino belt I've seen. Can't stand it.

  28. I've been looking for a tank like that! Thank you! :D

  29. I USED O THINK THAT I had an aversion for rubber shoes but now I am buying them...so in fashion I am sure that I can change my mind on anything
yet wearing too sexy, revealing in yur face kind of outfits make me cringe (like everything Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj would wear )

  30. I thought like that about the colored jeans, but now I am sporting them and love them too!
Love what you are wearing here, So different from your usual but still you! Love it!

  31. 3/4 sleeves and black shoes. just can't do it.

  32. I really dislike jeans with designs on the back pocket( other than a levi's sign). When shopping for a pair of jeans I look at the back pocket first. If they have some crazy design on them I don't look twice.

  33. I am so in love with your outfit. So classy and edgy at the same time!

My fashion aversions are high low hems on skirts and that Dany shoe by Jessica Simpson.. Hate them!

  34. You look fantastic as usual, but that second picture is amazing.

  35. Totally love the whole outfit. I was scrolling down your picture(ipad), still staring at your hat, in awe of course, and thought, wait is a rib cage? Awesome, works just fine for the whole front of yours, dear.....
Oh, and I absolutely can't stand peplum. On nobody. It's 2012, guys.
Love your blog and your style, truly. Fell out of love with quite a lot style bloggers lately, but am a devoted reader of yours. xx Katrin

  36. I LOVE that top! This whole outfit is fantastic.

I can't stand printed palazzo pants. They're basically pajama pants, and I got my fill of wearing those out in public in high school.

It was amusing to read the comments and what things people don't like - I have to admit, I wear at least half the things people listed :)
