Maybe if I were wiser, I wouldn't have worn the tightest skirt to go out for breakfast at my favourite place. The tiny waistbands of vintage skirts have others gasping for breath as well. I'm pretty sure, the waistband was the only thing that kept my internal organs from shifting that day. Usually my epidermis holds everything together but it was a holiday weekend, so it had the day off and the waistband took over and kept me together.


Ha. That last paragraph veered very quickly into silly talk and to top it off, I just wrote the word epidermis. Never thought I would have the opportunity to do that on the blog. That word reminds me of being in Grade 1, when a bunch of Grade 8 kids went up to us and asked what we would do if our best friend's epidermis was showing. Obviously it was a trick question (especially difficult for me because I had recently immigrated and I was still learning English...) because we had no clue what an epidermis was and it sounded... kinda dirty. My best friend told them that if she saw my epidermis showing, she would laugh and run away. My tender feelings were hurt but I got over it just in time to be her maid of honour 16 years later. After all, it is my organs that are shifty, not my loyalty to friends.

    I like the length of the skirt! I'm also excited that you've used the word epidermis. I think yours is the first blog that I've read to have used that word :) And that's why I love it..

    haha a similar thing happened to me when I was 11 this boy I liked asked me if I was a homosapien...I panicked because it had the word homo in it. So I said no...then he made fun of me because I wasn't human :)

    Well, you might not have been wise to wear the skirt to a yummy breakfast... but you sure do look damn lady-like! And I'm going to have to steal these tricks from you: wear a longer length skirt= class. Tell little kids that their epidermis is showing = a great saturday at the park.

    I love this! For some reason I always think to colour block with 2 bright colours, but I love this bright skirt with the light neutrals...it's perfect!

    So true about vintage skirts.
    The waistband thing has always been a mystery to me since it can fit perfectly everywhere else.

    I freakin' love this tan-purple color combination, and will forever envy your collection of silk blouses. I hear you on those vintage waistbands too, although I make it a rule not to buy any clothes that prohibit eating delicious food - a girl's got to have her priorities! :)

    This is my favorite skirt on you. I love it since the first time you wore it. The color is amazing and the length so flattering! Very nice pairing as well. I would have never worn two so big necklaces together, but this looks great, I will have to try it out :)

    aaah, we've all been there with the almost-fitting thrifted skirts. i very nearly bought these amazing vintage camel stirrup pants that i had to take a deep breath in to zip up this weekend, but decided i didn't need one more thing that would only eventually end up in the "donate" pile. such a beautiful skirt, though, and you look lovely!
